NEW DELHI: Ducati lists a 24-month, unlimited-mileage warranty for the XDiavel V4. Owners preparing a claim should bring the motorcycle's service booklet and maintenance records to an official Ducati workshop, and keep the warranty period separate from the bike's service deadlines. A long valve-check interval does not postpone routine servicing.

Start with the XDiavel's own schedule

The figures above come from the XDiavel V4 specification, rather than a generic schedule for every Ducati. That distinction matters because Ducati's general India warranty page still describes service coupons for older model groups. An owner should use the booklet and schedule applicable to the actual motorcycle when assembling a service history.

For a lightly used cruiser, the calendar can matter more than the odometer. Record the date of the last visit alongside its mileage. A bike that spends long stretches parked between leisure rides still needs its time-based maintenance considered. Do not wait for a touring trip to discover that the paperwork records mileage but omits when the work happened.

The valve inspection is a separate workshop operation. It is not the warranty duration, and it is not a promise that all maintenance can wait until that distance. Our Multistrada V4 valve-check explainer examines that same distinction on another Ducati. Its schedule should not be substituted for the XDiavel's.

Prepare a useful fault record

Before presenting a claim, write down what happened, when it first occurred, and whether the motorcycle was hot, cold, moving or stationary. Photograph any visible fault and preserve warning messages where practical. This is a suggested way to help diagnosis, rather than an extra eligibility condition published by Ducati.

Keep the purchase paperwork, service booklet, workshop invoices and any earlier repair documents together. Ask the workshop to describe the reported symptom on the job card. A clear record is more useful than simply describing the bike as unreliable, especially when a fault appears only under particular conditions and cannot be reproduced immediately.

For the XDiavel V4, distinguish a concern about the engine from one involving a fitted accessory or a control adjustment. Naming the component and describing its behaviour helps keep the assessment focused. Owners comparing the model's broader positioning can also read our XDiavel V4 and Streetfighter V4 price comparison; warranty diagnosis is a separate question from the motorcycle's purchase price.

Read the exclusions before authorising work

Ducati's general warranty page says unauthorised workshop repairs or overhauls and non-original parts can forfeit its conventional warranty. It also excludes damage from accidents, overloading, improper or negligent use, and motorcycles used in sporting competition. The supplied service booklet contains the detailed conditions.

That makes a written assessment particularly useful when a motorcycle has been modified. Record the accessories fitted and any previous work, then ask which component is being assessed and which booklet provision applies. Avoid treating an initial discussion as a confirmed approval or rejection. Obtain the workshop's position before agreeing to chargeable repairs.

The same page says the conventional warranty transfers to a new owner when the bike is sold and does not replace applicable statutory consumer rights. For an ownership change, keeping the motorcycle's service documents together is therefore sensible. This guide does not promise that every fault reported during the warranty period will be accepted.

Recovery and repair are different decisions

Ducati's India roadside-assistance page advertises breakdown transfer to the nearest Ducati dealer, flat-tyre support and emergency fuel delivery within a 50 km radius of a Ducati service centre, subject to terms. Owners should establish the assistance applicable to their motorcycle before relying on a particular service during a trip.

A recovery arrangement does not itself decide who pays for a replacement component. Ask separately about transport eligibility, diagnosis and repair approval. If the motorcycle cannot be operated safely, arrange its assessment without attempting to recreate the fault on the road. Keep transport paperwork with the workshop record.

This is especially relevant for an XDiavel used for occasional long rides: a roadside incident, a scheduled service and a manufacturing-defect assessment can generate different documents. Keeping them distinct makes the history easier to understand later. Our DesertX service guide offers another example of why Ducati maintenance requirements must be read by model.
