NEW DELHI: Canon India lists the EOS R3 body at an MRP of Rs 5,37,995, inclusive of all taxes. The body listing combines a stacked full-frame sensor with Eye Control AF and professional recording features. Understanding the package, card requirements and eye-control setup is more useful than treating that price as the cost of a complete shooting system.

What the body specification tells you
The India product page specifies a 24.1MP stacked sensor with DIGIC X processing. It advertises electronic-shutter shooting at up to 30 frames per second and mechanical shooting at up to 12. Keep the shutter qualification with each figure when reading the specification.
Canon also lists in-camera 6K 60p RAW video and separate SD and CFexpress Type B card slots. For someone assembling a professional kit, the question extends beyond whether a function appears on the feature list. Decide which recording mode the assignment requires, then plan the media and file-handling process around it.
Eye Control requires personal calibration
Canon's manual describes Eye Control as selecting focus positions by looking through the viewfinder. It is available for still photography. The camera needs calibration to register the user's line of sight, and Canon advises doing this under the same eyewear conditions in which the camera will be used.
That makes a shared camera a different proposition from a personally configured one. A photographer using glasses should prepare the matching calibration, rather than assuming another operator's settings will suit them. Canon also describes refining calibration for vertical shooting and saving data for different users or eyewear conditions.
During use, looking at a position moves the pointer, while a half-press of the shutter confirms the subject for focusing. This separates choosing the target from confirming it. A photographer trying the feature should rehearse that sequence before relying on it during a fleeting moment.
For a sports photographer alternating horizontal and vertical compositions, the rehearsal should include both orientations and the eyewear that will be worn at the venue. The useful test is whether subject selection feels dependable in that person's hands. A specification sheet cannot answer that individual handling question.
Budget for the recording medium
The compatible-card guide lists CFexpress Type B alongside SD, SDHC and SDXC, with UHS-I and UHS-II compatibility. For movies it calls for CFexpress supporting VPG400 or a card with sufficient read and write performance for the chosen quality. Canon explicitly says a memory card is not supplied.
That last detail matters when the body is being issued for an assignment immediately after purchase. Media should already be part of the preparation checklist. The guide also tells users to format a new card, or one previously formatted by another camera or computer, in this camera.
Who it is for
The R3's combination of subject-selection tools and recording options is relevant to photographers who will prepare a system around demanding assignments. Its listed price should be read alongside the actual lens, media and handling requirements of that work. This is an equipment explanation, not a claim that every photographer needs those capabilities.
Canon's package guide lists an LP-E19 battery, LC-E19 charger, strap, interface cable and cable protector alongside the camera and eyecup. Check those named components when unpacking. Keep the physical kit check separate from setting up cards and calibrating Eye Control, so each preparation task has a clear result.
