NEW DELHI: The MG ZS EV starts at Rs 17,99,000, against Rs 24,99,000 for the BYD ATTO 3 Dynamic, on the manufacturers' Indian pages. That makes the MG's listed starting price Rs 7,00,000 lower. These are ex-showroom figures for the car with its battery, rather than battery-financing entry amounts.

Price as of 30 October 2026, 00:13 IST. Both sites describe their displayed amounts as starting prices. Registration, insurance and the final vehicle quotation need separate confirmation. The comparison uses the published vehicle figures consistently rather than mixing them with a lower upfront financing headline.

The base batteries are close in size

The entry ATTO 3 and ZS EV sit surprisingly close on battery capacity despite the difference in their starting prices. The more meaningful battery step occurs within the BYD range, where Premium and Superior use the larger pack. A family comparing these SUVs should therefore identify the ATTO 3 variant before discussing range.

BYD's official listing gives Dynamic an ARAI-tested range of 468 km and separately quotes 410 km under NEDC. Premium and Superior are listed at 521 km ARAI and 480 km NEDC. Those labels matter: the different test-cycle numbers describe the same respective variants, rather than separate batteries or a guaranteed distance in daily traffic.

MG advertises a 461 km range. The closeness of the entry-level advertised range figures should not be treated as a road-test verdict. These pages establish what each manufacturer claims. They do not establish which car will travel farther on the same Indian highway with identical passengers, temperature and air-conditioning use.

Equipment changes the comparison within MG

The ZS EV Executive lists a touchscreen, connected functions, alloy wheels and a split rear seat. Excite Pro adds a panoramic roof. Exclusive Plus lists an around-view camera and rear driving assistance, while Essence brings Level 2 driver assistance. The extra equipment belongs to named versions, rather than automatically following the model badge.

This makes an entry-price comparison only the opening step. A family specifically examining camera visibility or assisted-driving functions should compare the corresponding equipment rows. Treating the Executive price as the cost of every feature promoted elsewhere on the page would make the MG appear to include equipment that sits higher in its range.

For BYD, the official India product presentation takes a different approach to the cabin. It describes a fitness-inspired interior with distinctive grip-style handles and flexible door storage. Those details are relevant to daily interaction with the car, but they cannot be converted into a monetary explanation for the entire price gap.

Battery size and cabin design answer different questions

The ATTO 3's larger-battery versions make the comparison less straightforward than matching the two entry stickers. A household interested in longer intervals between charging stops is examining a different configuration from the one used in the headline. The extra battery capacity and the extra expenditure need to stay attached to that configuration throughout the discussion.

Equally, a commuter evaluating the ZS EV's equipment ladder is making a cabin and convenience comparison within a common battery specification. That is a different question from choosing between BYD's battery sizes. Separating those decisions makes the official tables useful without turning this report into a recommendation to buy either car.

Read the prices in their proper context

Our existing BYD ATTO 3 price list: Rs 24,99,000 to Rs 34,49,000 and MG ZS EV price list: Rs 17.99 lakh to Rs 20.75 lakh, or Rs 13 lakh plus Rs 4.5/km on BaaS provide the individual model context. This comparison brings their entry prices and battery choices together, with the exact versions identified.

Keep any separate battery finance illustration outside the vehicle-price column. Our BYD luxury brand Denza announces India entry, no price or launch date yet explains why a low initial payment and a full vehicle price should be read differently. For these two SUVs, the published price gap is clear; the equipment and battery comparison depends on the named trim.
