NEW DELHI: Ather 450 owners with the optional Eight70 battery plan get cover for up to 8 years or 80,000 km, whichever comes first, including a battery-health threshold of 70%. The plan requires AtherStack Pro. It needs to be distinguished from the scooter's standard warranty and from the battery cover included with Pro.
| 450 battery arrangement | Published coverage |
|---|---|
| Standard battery warranty | 3 years or 30,000 km |
| AtherStack Pro, 450S FAQ | 5 years or 60,000 km |
| Pro plus Eight70 | 8 years or 80,000 km, whichever comes first |
| Eight70 health trigger | Battery health below 70% |
| Plan starting point | Vehicle invoice date |
Read the battery plan separately from the scooter warranty
The official 450 page lists the same standard battery term for the 450S and 450X. Its published range choices differ: the 450S is listed with 122 km or 161 km IDC range, while the 450X shows 126 km or 161 km. That makes the invoice's model, battery configuration and ownership package more useful than a general reference to an Ather 450.
The distinction has a practical purpose. Someone discussing a fault in the display, brakes or charger should identify the relevant component cover rather than assume the longest battery term extends to the entire vehicle. Keep the battery certificate with the purchase documents, and label it clearly enough that another family member can find the correct policy if the usual rider is unavailable.
A health threshold does not measure the next journey
Ather's battery FAQ says eligible defects and battery health below the stated threshold can lead to repair or replacement without labour charges. It also says battery-health data becomes reliable after 10,000 km. Owners can seek help from Ather support to check it. A shorter journey between charges is therefore something to document for diagnosis, rather than a percentage to declare from a single ride.
For the 450 family, this is especially relevant because the product page separates battery capacity choices from performance and software equipment. A request about long-term capacity should name the battery version. A request about a missing connected feature should name the software package. Combining both complaints under a general statement that the scooter has lost performance can obscure what needs to be checked.
The 450S has a documented route into the plan
Ather's official release for the 3.7 kWh 450S explicitly describes Eight70 as an option for that model. The release identifies a 5.4 kW motor, 22 Nm torque and 90 km/h top speed. Its stated 161 km IDC range belongs to that battery version. These are model identifiers, rather than a promise that the warranty will preserve a particular distance on every journey.
Keep any battery-health result separate from the instrument panel's remaining-charge reading. Ask the service record to state which measure was assessed and which policy is being considered. This is a practical way to make the concern reviewable: the technician gets a clear issue to investigate, while the owner gets a written explanation that can be compared with the certificate.
Check exclusions before expecting a replacement
The FAQ excludes flooding, accident damage, fire, battery alterations and tampered identification. It makes a specific exception for deep discharge while the vehicle is idle. Claims go through an Ather service centre for validity checks, and the plan is transferable with the scooter. The public promise therefore needs to be read together with the exclusions and the individual policy record.
Before handing over the scooter, retain a copy of the invoice, policy and previous diagnosis. Describe the concern plainly, including whether it is a failure to charge, an unexpected shutdown or a concern about capacity. These suggested records help frame a claim; they are not a new checklist of compulsory documents imposed by this article.
For the model differences, see our 450S and 450X comparison. The Ather reservation refund guide deals with a separate stage of ownership. Our scooter service and warranty comparison places the wider ownership packages alongside each other.
