NEW DELHI: Chetak allows an online scooter booking to be cancelled before final payment, with the refund usually taking 5 to 7 working days after applicable deductions. The important cutoff is payment, rather than delivery. Its public booking form currently displays a Rs 2,000 booking amount and a Rs 200 cancellation charge, but the policy says charges depend on the selected vehicle.
| Booking question | Official position |
|---|---|
| Cancellation cutoff | Before final net payment |
| Usual refund window | 5 to 7 working days |
| Purchase completion window | 60 days from booking |
| Displayed booking form | Rs 2,000 booking; Rs 200 cancellation consent |
| After 60 days | Manual refund route through selected dealership |
Check the payment stage before cancelling
Open the booking record and check whether the transaction is still a reservation or has reached final payment. Chetak's terms apply the cancellation cutoff whether the balance was paid online or physically at the dealership. A scooter awaiting handover can therefore already be beyond the cancellation stage described in this policy.
This matters particularly for a C3501 reservation. The model page lists a 3.5 kWh battery, a touchscreen and 35 litres of boot space. If the decision concerns the chosen equipment or model, settle that question while the reservation remains editable. The existence of a booking receipt should not be mistaken for an open-ended opportunity to change the order.
Use the booking record, then retain the confirmation
The FAQ directs customers to My Bookings, then Modify Booking, then Cancel Booking. Check the deduction displayed for the actual reservation before confirming. The public form is a useful illustration, but its displayed cancellation amount should not be treated as a fixed fee for every Chetak model or every booking made earlier.
Keep a copy of the booking receipt, the cancellation screen and the confirmation. These are practical records to retain, rather than extra documents that this article claims Chetak universally requires. They let the owner separate the original payment, the charge accepted at cancellation and the net amount expected back without relying on a recollection of the checkout screen.
The refund route changes with the booking date
For cancellation within the purchase window, the terms describe an automatic refund through the original payment method after deductions, usually within 7 working days. They identify the issuing bank as the processor. After the window has elapsed, the stated route is a manual refund handled by the selected dealership. That distinction helps identify where a delayed transaction needs to be traced.
Chetak also says an unpaid booking is automatically cancelled if final payment is not received within the purchase window. An owner who simply stopped proceeding should therefore inspect the booking status. An automatic cancellation and a cancellation submitted deliberately can lead to similar bank entries, while leaving the customer with different confirmation records to locate.
Separate a failed payment from a cancelled order
A failed booking with money debited is a separate case in the FAQ. Before attempting another payment, establish what happened to the first transaction. For a delay, collect the payment reference, booking identifier, cancellation date where relevant and the bank entry. A concise transaction history is more useful than sending an unexplained screenshot of a debit.
The refund wording also deserves careful reading: a usual processing period is not a promise of an immediate credit. Keep the wording from the policy alongside the payment record, and distinguish working days from calendar days when tracking the usual window. If the issuing bank has not processed the credit, the terms direct the customer to follow up with the bank using the payment gateway details.
Model costs remain a separate question from cancellation deductions. Our Bajaj Chetak price list: Rs 99,802 to Rs 1,53,850 for all five models in Bengaluru covers the range, while the Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG price: Rs 1,04,058 to Rs 1,17,499, variants explained addresses ownership support. For another brand's reservation rules, see the Bajaj Pulsar N160 price list: Rs 1,22,106 to Rs 1,42,585 in Delhi. Each policy needs to be read on its own terms.
