BENGALURU: Ather Energy's 450 series now starts at Rs 1,35,999 for the 450S and Rs 1,48,998 for the 450X, according to the model comparison on the company's official Ather 450 page. Both are starting prices, price as of 9 October 2026, 7:05 AM IST, and the gap between the two is Rs 12,999.
The 450 is Ather's performance-focused scooter range, positioned above the family-oriented Rizta. With Diwali on 8 November, here is how the 450S and 450X differ on range, speed and features, based only on what Ather lists on its own website.
Ather 450S and 450X prices
Ather lists the 450S from Rs 1,35,999 and the 450X from Rs 1,48,998. Both carry an asterisk marking them as starting prices, and Ather publishes separate city-wise price pages, so the final invoice depends on where you buy. Registration, insurance and accessories will add to the on-road cost.
Colour choice can also change the price slightly. The 450S is offered in Cosmic Black, Hyper Sand, Stealth Blue, True Red and Still White. The 450X adds Space Grey to that list, and a Lunar Grey Super Matte finish costs Rs 1,000 extra, according to the comparison table.
For buyers who want the family scooter instead, our report on the Ather Rizta S at Rs 1,21,999 and Rizta Z at Rs 1,36,999 sets out that range in detail.
Range and performance
The 450S is listed with IDC range options of 122 km and 161 km, and the 450X with 126 km and 161 km, depending on the battery pack. IDC figures come from a standard test cycle, so real-world range will usually be lower, especially at higher speeds or with a pillion.
Both scooters have a listed top speed of 90 km/h. The difference shows up in acceleration: Ather quotes 0 to 40 km/h in 3.9 seconds for the 450S and 3.3 seconds for the 450X. Standard battery warranty on both is 3 years or 30,000 km, with extended cover sold separately.
What the 450X adds
The comparison table shows the main feature differences. The 450S has no navigation, while the 450X gets Google Maps. The 450X also gets Magic Twist, which Ather describes as twisting the throttle down to accelerate and up to slow down using regenerative braking, along with multi-mode traction control and a feature Ather calls Infinite Cruise.
Ather's product page says the 450X has a 17.7 cm (7-inch) TFT touchscreen dashboard. The page also lists Park Assist, which lets the scooter move in reverse at the press of a button, and AutoHold, which holds the scooter steady on a slope. Buyers should confirm with the dealer which of these are standard on the version they are quoted.
For riders who mostly commute on familiar routes, the 450S offers the same top speed and similar range for less money. Buyers who want on-screen navigation, traction control and the quicker acceleration will need the 450X, and Ather also sells a higher-spec 450 Apex above both.
Subsidy and charging
Buyers comparing electric scooters this season should also understand how the central incentive works. Our PM E-DRIVE subsidy guide for Diwali explains how that benefit is calculated and what paperwork buyers need.
Ather runs its own public fast-charging network, which the company says has more than 6,100 points across over 370 cities. Most owners will still charge at home, so buyers living in apartments should check whether they can install a charging point in their parking area before booking.
What buyers should check
Ask the dealer for an itemised on-road quote that separates the ex-showroom price, registration, insurance, accessories and any software pack. Confirm the battery size covered by the quote, since the listed starting price may not apply to the larger pack, and get the delivery date in writing during the festive rush.
Prices on Ather's website can change without notice. The figures in this report are from the official Ather 450 page as seen on 9 October 2026.
