Sigra Police Arrest Ghazipur Man After Raid on Cantt-Area Paying Guest House

Sigra police locked an Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act case on Sunday after a tip-led raid on a paying guest house tucked into a gali opposite the Cantonment railway side.

According to a Commissionerate social-media brief, Case 403/2026 was registered at Sigra police station under sections 3, 4, 5 and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956. The arrested accused is named as Abhishek Yadav, 26, son of Arjun Singh Yadav, resident of Gopur Sarai Gokul under Jamania police station in Ghazipur district.

Officers place the premises near pillar number 50 in Tavera gali — described in the brief as Yadav Paying Guest House operating alongside Bhole Shankar Bus Service. The action followed a specific informant tip that women were being brought there on the pretext of work and that customers were present in the rooms, the police note said.

A team assembled under the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Chetganj, with Station House Officer Shivakant Mishra of Sigra and supporting sub-inspectors and constables. On reaching the spot, police said they found the tip borne out and took four women and two men from separate rooms. None of the women or the two men are being named here; their statements will shape whatever charges finally stick.

From the rooms, the brief lists seizures of seven mobile phones, ₹3,800 in cash, sealed and used condom packets and two registers. Those items have been taken into custody as part of the case property, police said.

The allegation on the record is that the guest house was being used for commercial sexual exploitation under the cover of lodging and a bus office. That remains an allegation. Abhishek Yadav is in custody subject to production before the court and further investigation. Any wider network — including other names that surfaced in the tip — will need independent corroboration before it can be treated as established fact.

Cantt’s parade-kothi and pillar belt sees heavy passenger footfall because of the junction station across the road. Guest houses and paying-guest rooms in the lanes feed that traffic. Sunday’s raid sits inside the Commissionerate’s broader campaign language against gambling, illicit liquor and trafficking offences, though this particular FIR is narrowly under the ITPA sections listed above.

For now, the verifiable core is simple: a dated arrest, a numbered Sigra case, a named accused from Ghazipur, and a short seizure list. How many chargesheets follow, and against whom, will depend on the women’s statements, the registers and the digital material on the seized phones.

Investigators will now dump the seized phones and read the two registers against room occupancy slips, if any exist. Cash recovery is modest; the case will turn more on whether the women describe coercion, debt bondage or voluntary commercial sex, each of which sits differently under ITPA.

ACP Chetganj’s presence on a Sunday raid signals the zone wanted a supervised search rather than a lone station party. Sigra’s beat already carries heavy passenger lodging; one confirmed ITPA arrest does not close the lane, but it does put a dated case number on a long-whispered complaint pattern.
