VARANASI: UP Board opened a correction window on Monday, November 2, 2026, for the educational records of students entering its 2027 High School and Intermediate examinations. Varanasi families should ask their school to check the uploaded record now: online corrections close at midnight at the end of November 12, while cases requiring documents must reach the District Inspector of Schools through the principal by November 16.

The board's Varanasi regional office is at Orderly Bazar. Its role is relevant to cases needing scrutiny beyond the school portal, but the first step for a student is the school principal. The new order covers both institutional and private candidates whose particulars have been uploaded for the 2027 examinations.

Parents should first identify the error with the school. A misspelt name and a request to replace a full name follow different routes. Birth date changes also require the document route. Taking the wrong route could leave a request unfinished when the relevant deadline arrives.

Which corrections schools can make online

The board's order dated November 2 directs principals to compare the uploaded particulars with school records. The online list includes spelling errors in the student's and parents' names, subject or stream, gender, caste, medium of instruction and photograph. It also includes an incorrect High School roll number entered in the Class 11 registration record.

For the medium of instruction, the notice specifically identifies Hindi and English. Students should therefore check the recorded medium as well as the subject or stream entry. A correct name alone does not complete the comparison that the board has asked schools to undertake.

Principals must use the portal to update eligible entries within the correction period. Students should give the school the exact existing entry and the correction sought, supported by the relevant record. This practical check helps the school identify whether the request fits the online list or needs a separate application.

The document route has a different deadline

Requests involving a date of birth, a full change to the student's or either parent's name, or deletion and restoration of a student's details under the rules are handled offline. The order asks the district inspector to obtain these applications from principals by November 16. This is a separate process from the online window ending November 12.

The document list begins with the student's application carrying a photograph, a certified copy of the scholar register, a certified copy of the attendance register, the examinee's identity card and a copy of the Class 9 or Class 11 registration card. Families with these cases should ask their principal to check the complete list before forwarding the file.

The second page also lists an affidavit concerning the correct entries, countersigned transfer certificates and an application countersigned by the principal. The listed transfer certificate certifications refer to the district inspector and the basic education officer. The school should establish the applicable records and certifications for the particular case rather than sending an unsupported request.

What residents should do

Ask the school to compare the record field by field, then establish the submission route. For an offline case, prepare the supporting file early enough for the principal to meet the district deadline. Keep a copy of the request and ask the school to confirm when it has updated the entry or forwarded the papers.

After examining the papers, the DIOS must send the file with a recommendation and a reasoned report to the regional office by November 21. The regional office has a further processing deadline of November 30. Those dates describe work by officials; families should continue to work to the earlier school and district submission dates.

The board's official directory lists 0542-2509990 for its Varanasi regional office and 0542-2509413 for the Varanasi district inspector. These provide local enquiry points if the school needs clarification about the correction route.
