NEW DELHI: OPPO's A5 Pro 5G product page describes a 120-second laboratory test involving an 80-degree Celsius water jet as part of its water-resistance explanation. The same page says liquid damage is excluded from warranty cover. For owners, the IP69 label and the service conditions need to be read together before treating a durability claim as permission to expose the phone to water.

A durability feature with defined boundaries

The A5 Pro was introduced in India through a company announcement dated 24 April 2025. OPPO positioned it around durability, rather than presenting water resistance as a feature reserved for its higher-priced phones. That positioning explains why the resistance badges occupy such a prominent place in its product presentation.

The launch material also describes shock-absorbing construction, an aluminium-alloy frame and reinforced cover glass. These are different parts of a durability argument. Protection against an impact, resistance to a water jet and the ability to register a touch with wet fingers are separate capabilities; one should not stand in for the others when interpreting the advertising.

OPPO's launch announcement discusses exposure to everyday liquids and an underwater photography mode. Those descriptions make the qualification on the current product page especially relevant. A feature intended to help in a difficult environment does not establish unlimited protection in every version of that environment, or settle the outcome of a repair assessment.

Look at the actual phone behind the badge

The India specification page identifies the handset as CPH2695. It lists Mocha Brown and Feather Blue finishes, approximately 194g weight and an LCD with 1604 x 720 resolution. Keeping that model identifier with a saved product record helps avoid mixing this Indian handset with another A5-branded device or a similarly named overseas version.

Storage is offered in 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB combinations, using LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. The page also supports a storage card. These details matter because durability is only one aspect of everyday use: the same phone still needs enough room for local documents, photos and work applications.

The camera specification lists a 50MP wide camera and a monochrome camera at the rear, with an 8MP camera on the front. It also lists a document-scanning mode. For someone carrying the handset through a working day, capturing receipts or paperwork is a concrete task to evaluate alongside the resistance marketing, rather than assuming a ruggedness claim describes the whole device.

Write down the event before seeking an assessment

As a practical step after a problem, keep an account of the exposure and the symptoms in ordinary language. Record whether the issue involved rain, a spill or another event, and distinguish what you directly observed from a guess about internal damage. A clear account is more useful than describing the handset simply as waterproof.

Retain the purchase record and any service paperwork. If a repair estimate is provided, ask for the reported fault and proposed work to be recorded clearly. These are preparation suggestions, not a promise that a particular incident qualifies for free repair. The published exclusion and the individual assessment still matter.

Store terms answer another part of the question

OPPO's India Store terms say products are covered by its standard warranty and identify exclusions including unauthorised repairs, misuse, accidents and physical damage after delivery. They also say software or firmware updates may be needed for optimal performance. A symptom should therefore be described carefully before deciding whether it is physical damage, a software issue or another fault.

Keep the seller's order terms separate from the product's resistance specification. An order record explains the transaction; the technical page explains the tested feature. Saving both gives an owner a clearer documentary trail than keeping a promotional image alone, especially when a purchase was made through a channel with its own process.

For broader service context, see our OPPO Store return-policy report. Our Reno14 variant explainer demonstrates why exact configurations matter, while our ColorOS coverage tracks the software side of ownership.

The A5 Pro specification also identifies a maximum 120Hz LCD refresh rate. That display feature is independent of the water tests in the table. When documenting a complaint, separate an on-screen response problem from visible physical damage or the circumstances of exposure, so the description does not assume that several different symptoms necessarily share a cause.
