NEW DELHI: Nokia 215 4G owners can check for a dual-SIM unit by looking for two IMEI codes on the sales box, then set separate preferences for calls, messages and mobile data. HMD's guide also explains a limitation worth knowing before moving both numbers: while one SIM is handling a call, the other may be unavailable.

Identify the phone before opening it

This guide concerns the Nokia 215 4G shown on HMD's India page with a Micro-USB connection. It should not be mixed with the separately listed Nokia 215 4G (2024). Similar names are a reason to match the handset, box and manual before following instructions or ordering an accessory. A familiar model number alone is an incomplete identification.

The India page displays Rs 3,249 alongside a crossed-out Rs 3,599 and marks the shown listing unavailable. That is a reference price, not a promise that an order can be placed. Price as of 4 November 2026, 00:07 IST. The setup procedure is useful to an existing owner regardless of whether the online store currently accepts orders.

Fit the cards with the power disconnected

Switch the phone off and disconnect its charger before removing the cover. Lift the back from the small opening at the bottom, then remove the battery if fitted. HMD specifies nano-SIM cards and warns against incompatible sizes. Keep the phone closed during normal use and avoid touching electronic components while the cover is off.

The holders lock in opposite directions. For the first SIM, slide the holder left, open it, put the card face down and close it by sliding right. For SIM2, unlock to the right and lock to the left after inserting the card face down. Treat each holder separately rather than assuming the second repeats the first motion.

If fitting a memory card, place it in its own slot before putting the battery and back cover back. The box check is especially useful when helping a relative set up a handset: verify the two IMEI labels before planning to move both numbers. Do not rely only on a seller's general description of the product family.

Choose which number does each job

In the menu, find Connectivity and then Dual SIM. HMD names separate controls for Preferred SIM for calls and Preferred SIM for messages. For data, open Mobile data connection and then Preferred SIM. The online guide represents part of the menu path with an icon, so follow the named entries rather than searching for an extra written menu label.

You can also rename the cards through SIM settings and SIM name within the Dual SIM menu. Use names that describe their purpose, such as personal and work. That is a practical way to make a shared setup understandable later, especially if someone else inserts the cards and the owner does not remember which slot holds which number.

Understand standby before testing calls

Having both SIMs available while the device is idle does not mean both remain reachable during every call. For a household keeping a longstanding family number alongside a separate work connection, the important question is what happens while the owner is already speaking. Discuss that limitation before treating this handset as a replacement for two independently active phones.

After reassembly, the charging guide says a fully exhausted battery may need several minutes before an indicator appears. USB charging from a computer is supported, but the computer must be on and charging efficiency can vary. HMD gives no fixed full-charge duration in that guide, so an exact waiting time would be misleading.
