NEW DELHI: HMD lists the Blue HMD 105 at Rs 1,149 with 4MB RAM and 4MB internal storage on its India product page. This is the basic GSM feature phone, whose specification sheet lists a 2-inch screen and a removable 1000mAh battery. The similar name should not be confused with HMD 105 4G.

Read the small memory figures correctly

The MB labels are intentional. HMD specifies 4MB of RAM and 4MB of internal storage, alongside the S30+ operating system. That puts this device in a different category from an Android handset whose memory is normally discussed in GB. The figures describe a compact feature phone, rather than an unusually cheap smartphone.

For a household comparing phone listings, this distinction matters more than the colour. A familiar name and a low price do not establish that the phone will run the same applications as a touchscreen device. Start with the tasks the user actually needs to complete, rather than trying to compare the memory figure directly with an Android phone.

HMD separately lists support for a microSD card up to 32GB. The card is sold separately, and the company's footnote says some features need it. Storage expansion should therefore be treated as a place for supported content, not as an upgrade that changes the phone into a different software platform.

Check the network before moving a SIM

The official network entry is GSM 900/1800. A buyer should have the intended operator confirm service for this type of handset in the area where it will be used. A SIM fitting into the phone is only a physical check; it does not settle network compatibility.

This is particularly relevant when the HMD 105 name appears beside the separate 4G product in a search result. Keep the full model name on the invoice and packaging aligned with the specification sheet. Our Nokia 106 4G and HMD 101 4G comparison covers a different pair of keypad phones.

Small screen, physical controls and charging

The specification sheet lists a weight of 77.5g and a Micro USB connection. A Micro USB charger, removable battery and user guide appear in the box contents. Before reusing a cable from another phone, inspect the connector rather than assuming that every recent handset uses USB Type-C.

The removable battery also gives a family a straightforward item to identify when arranging service. Keep the battery and handset details with the purchase record. HMD's specification footnote warns that battery capacity reduces over time; removability is not a promise that replacement parts will always be available locally.

HMD also describes an English-only phone talker on the product page. If spoken assistance is part of the reason for choosing this handset, try that feature with the eventual user. A relative who reads a different language may need a different kind of help, even when the physical keys themselves feel familiar.

Who it is for

The HMD 105 is aimed at someone seeking physical keys and a modest calling device, provided the network check works out. A useful handover would include placing a call, opening contacts and trying the menu together. Familiarity with another keypad phone should not be mistaken for comfort with this particular keypad and screen.

For families managing the purchase, the HMD 105 replacement-guarantee guide deals with the separate service question. The Nokia 110 Power and HMD 110 comparison provides another model-specific reference. Neither changes the selected Blue handset's listed price here.

HMD's specifications give the handset dimensions as 115.5 x 49.5 x 14mm and identify the back as polycarbonate with a nano texture. The listed protection rating is IP52. Its audio hardware comprises one microphone and one speaker, with both wired and wireless FM radio support.

The language list includes English, Hindi, Punjabi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. HMD identifies Padget Electronics Pvt Ltd at A-154 C, A Block, Sector 63, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh 201305, as manufacturer. The specification also publishes BIS certification number R-93031194 and confirms that automatic call recording is available.
