NEW DELHI: HMD advertises a one-year replacement guarantee for the HMD 105 in India, subject to its published conditions and the device's limited warranty. Owners need their original invoice, and the offer concerns eligible hardware failures or manufacturing defects. Replacement approval rests with HMD, so the product-page promise should be read alongside the terms.

Start with the model and purchase record

The HMD 105 name should be matched carefully to the handset. This report covers the model whose official India specifications list a 2-inch screen, Micro USB connection and GSM 900/1800 bands. HMD's corresponding user guide identifies TA-1633 and TA-1636. A similarly named 4G handset has its own product information.

Keep the original invoice available, because HMD makes retaining it an eligibility condition. The replacement offer is limited to selected devices purchased in India. Its terms must also be read with the manufacturer's limited warranty supplied for the relevant device.

For a phone bought by one family member and used by another, put the invoice and the handset details together before arranging service. As practical preparation, write down what fails, when it happens and whether it prevents calling, charging or using the keypad. That gives the service team a clearer description than simply reporting that the phone does not work.

Use the official warranty checker

HMD's support site has an IMEI-based warranty checker. On a working classic phone, the company says the identifier can be displayed by entering *#06# on the main screen. The checker asks for the device identifier and location. Enter those details only on the official support page.

The checker concerns warranty validity. A separate service assessment is still needed to establish the cause of the fault and the remedy available. If the handset cannot power on to display its identifier, use HMD's support channel for instructions rather than treating the failed keypad lookup as a decision about coverage.

What a replacement may contain

HMD's terms allow replacement stock to be either new or refurbished. They also allow the manufacturer to reuse the existing battery and back cover where those parts are removable. Problems outside the replacement terms or limited warranty may result in a chargeable repair or replacement.

This provision has a concrete implication for the HMD 105 because its battery is removable. An owner reporting a charging or battery problem should make that symptom explicit in the service description. A replacement handset body by itself would not establish that the battery had also been changed; the service record should explain what was supplied.

Find the appropriate service route

HMD identifies its India support service as the authorised channel for HMD and Nokia devices made by the company. The support page links to a care-centre finder and provides phone and chat options. Its listed phone-support number is 1800 1028 169, with availability from 9am to 6pm.

The care-centre page also asks for a city or town and PIN code when checking whether home pickup and repair can be supported. That wording makes location confirmation part of the process. It does not establish that every HMD 105 owner has a pickup service available at their address.

Prepare the information you want to keep

The HMD 105 care guide advises keeping important information in at least two separate places, or writing it down. Before service, preserve essential contacts and other information while the handset is still usable. The guide also advises taking a malfunctioning device to an authorised service facility and avoiding opening it beyond the instructions provided.

Our phone backup checklist offers related preparation. For readers comparing manufacturer policies, see the separate Xiaomi India warranty explainer and Samsung India warranty report. Those companies' rules do not determine an HMD claim.
