NEW DELHI: Samsung India's warranty terms say a claim needs proof of purchase, covers only the first purchaser, and does not cover cosmetic parts, glass, bulbs, cables, consumables or damage from misuse, waterlogging or installation by an unauthorised party. The company's helpline is 1800 40 SAMSUNG (7267864). This guide is based on the warranty information page on Samsung India's website, read on 24 October 2026. The exact period depends on the product, so check the model page and the invoice.

What the Samsung warranty does not cover

Samsung's page lists cosmetic and aesthetic parts, plastic and glass parts, bulbs, cables, wiring, piping and consumables as outside the warranty. It also says the warranty does not cover demonstration or installation of the product.

A defect that comes from installation by anyone other than a Samsung authorised party is handled under revised terms as Samsung deems fit. Customer negligence or tampering voids the warranty, and so do failures from waterlogging or misuse.

For phones, tablets and wearables, the page adds that normal wear and tear, including camera lenses, batteries and displays, is not covered. Defects caused by using the product with accessories, software or services that Samsung did not supply or authorise are also excluded. Third party software, settings, content and data are not covered, and Samsung is not liable for loss of records, information or data.

How a repair affects the warranty period

If a part is repaired or replaced, the warranty continues only for the unexpired period. Samsung says the time taken for repair or replacement, including transit, is not excluded from the warranty period, so a long repair does not extend your cover.

The company or its service centre can keep the parts it replaces. If the product is found free of transit damage, the warranty for the unexpired period continues, and a visiting charge for inspection may apply. In case of transit damage, the service centre repairs the product on a chargeable basis and the remaining warranty continues.

Extended warranty and imported products

If you buy under an extended warranty offer, Samsung says it is the purchaser's responsibility to register the warranty card with the nearest authorised service centre within 2 weeks of purchase, at the purchaser's own cost and risk. Any extended warranty has to be supported by relevant proofs, and the model page carries the details of a specific promotional offer.

Products bought outside India get a limited warranty of 1 year in India, whatever the warranty period in the country where they were first sold. Repairs may cost money if the warranty does not apply, and returns and refunds are possible only in the country of first sale.

Limits on Samsung's liability

Price as of 24 October 2026, 8:30 AM IST, the terms say Samsung is not liable for any loss, cost or inconvenience from using or being unable to use the product, and that in no circumstances will its liability exceed the purchase price. Disputes are subject to Delhi jurisdiction.
