GURUGRAM: Two flyovers and an underpass received approval at a combined cost of Rs 136.41 crore, GMDA announced in a release dated Monday, November 2, 2026, and uploaded on Tuesday, November 3. The projects cover Dadi Sati Chowk, Ambedkar Chowk on Vikas Marg and the intersection near Millennium City Centre Metro station, affecting journeys through both New Gurugram and the established city sectors.

The approval came at a High Powered Works Purchase Committee meeting chaired by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in Chandigarh. Each project has an 18 month construction period measured from allotment. The announcement gives residents the approved scope and spending figures, but does not provide a calendar date for opening any of the three junction improvements.

Which junctions are covered

Dadi Sati Chowk, where Sectors 85, 86, 89 and 90 meet, is allocated Rs 43.05 crore. GMDA describes a six lane flyover with an overall project length of about 840 metres. Through traffic would get a separate level at an intersection serving the residential and commercial areas of New Gurugram.

The works there include a U-turn beneath the flyover measuring 7.5 metres in width, service roads on both sides and walkways two metres wide. Traffic signals, road markings and improved lighting also form part of the approved project. These details matter for residents making local turns as well as people passing through the junction.

At Ambedkar Chowk, the intersection of Sectors 45, 46, 51 and 52 on Vikas Marg, the allocation is Rs 36.36 crore. The four lane flyover has an overall project length of approximately 930 metres. GMDA identifies improved connections towards Park Hospital and Arihant Hospital among the intended benefits.

That project also provides for service roads, slip roads and two U-turns below the flyover. Covered drains combined with footpaths are planned on both sides, together with lighting, signals and road safety features. The published scope therefore extends to the street beside and below the main structure, rather than ending with the elevated carriageway.

Underpass and walking access near the Metro

The largest allocation, Rs 57 crore, is for the underpass at the intersection of Sectors 27, 29, 43 and 44 near Millennium City Centre Metro station. Its total approach length is about 1,350 metres: 625 metres towards IFFCO Chowk and 725 metres towards Ardee City.

Additional U-turns are planned in both those directions. Service roads would be 9.5 metres wide, with footpaths 2.5 metres wide on either side. For people reaching the station on foot, the announcement includes a covered foot overbridge of approximately 300 metres, equipped with four lifts and escalators.

GMDA also lists solar panels connected to the electricity grid and two rainwater harvesting systems for this project. Each harvesting system is specified at two lakh litres. These are components of the approved underpass scheme, not separate announcements of completed facilities.

  • Dadi Sati Chowk: six lanes, approximately 840 metres, Rs 43.05 crore.
  • Ambedkar Chowk: four lanes, approximately 930 metres, Rs 36.36 crore.
  • Millennium City Centre junction: approximately 1,350 metres of approaches, Rs 57 crore.
  • Construction period: 18 months for each project from allotment.

What residents can track next

The distinction between approval and allotment is important when reading the timetable. The 18 month period starts at allotment, so the release cannot be used to calculate a completion date from November 2. It also does not announce a construction diversion or an immediate restriction at these junctions. Residents can read the project descriptions and attachment on the official GMDA release page.

Nearby works on the public tender board

GMDA's October 28 tender list includes special repairs to the service road and master road along the Sector 52A, 53/43 dividing road, under tender ID 2026_HRY_556970_1. Another October 28 entry, ID 2026_HRY_557043_1, covers footpaths, drainage improvements and allied works between Rajeev Chowk and Sadar Bazar.

The authority also lists an October 19 tender for the master road dividing Sectors 109 and 112. Its October 30 tender for Sectors 81 to 87 covers master sewer lines with pipe sizes of 600mm, 800mm, 900mm and 1,000mm, alongside manholes, patrolling and desilting. The listing includes a three-year defect liability period. The homepage publishes these tenders separately from the November 3 entry for the three approved junction projects.

For context on other parts of the local road network, earlier coverage explains the review of pedestrian crossing locations, the street lighting plan for roads and footpaths and the survey of locations needing fog safety repairs. Those are separate initiatives; this approval concerns the three junction projects listed above.
