GURUGRAM: Shoppers heading to Sadar Bazar and the Old Railway Road area have four designated parking locations to choose from under a festive-season advisory issued by Gurugram Traffic Police on Monday, October 26. Police warned of action against unauthorised parking and said personnel would be deployed at major markets and crowded places through the festive season.

The advisory posted at 9:19 pm IST names Sadar Bazaar Multi-Level Parking, Mor Chowk Parking, Civil Hospital Parking and space inside Kaman Sarai. It identifies the Kaman Sarai location as being near the old City Police Station. The announcement supplies specific alternatives for visitors who might otherwise leave their vehicles along the market's roadsides.

The four parking locations

  • Sadar Bazaar Multi-Level Parking.
  • Mor Chowk Parking.
  • Civil Hospital Parking.
  • Inside Kaman Sarai, near the old City Police Station.

Police said vehicles left on roadsides, in no-parking zones or at restricted spots obstruct traffic and cause jams. Their instruction is to use the designated sites. The accompanying notice also says enforcement personnel will be present at major markets and crowded areas, making the guidance relevant to the approach to the market as well as the final parking spot.

The notice does not publish parking charges, opening hours, capacity or a live vacancy count for any of the four locations. It also does not announce a new one-way route or a market-wide road closure. Visitors should use the listed places as parking destinations and follow signs and staff instructions at the entrance, without assuming that a named facility guarantees an available space.

Parking offences form a sizeable part of enforcement

A separate police update at 9:23 pm IST on October 26 reported 89,974 challans across Gurugram in one week. Of those, 21,535 related to wrong parking. That is about 24 per cent of the total, calculated from the two published figures. These are citywide figures, not a count of offences in Sadar Bazar.

Police categoryReported count
Wrong parking challans21,535
Wrong-side driving challans5,503
Lane-change violation challans5,272
Vehicles impounded without number plates1,073

The impounding figure is a separate enforcement measure and should not be added to the challan total. Police did not give a fine-revenue figure in this update. Their accompanying message asks road users to observe signals, remain in their lanes, avoid wrong-side movement and use permitted parking.

Where to seek traffic assistance

The official police helpline page lists 1095 and 0124-2386000 for traffic assistance. The advisory also carries 112. These contacts are useful if visitors need clarification about a restriction or encounter a traffic problem near one of the named parking areas.
