GURUGRAM: Haryana's expanded Chirayu scheme will open to eligible families earning more than Rs 3 lakh a year from Sunday, November 1, 2026, Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh said in a district announcement on Wednesday, October 28. The change offers qualifying Gurugram households up to Rs 5 lakh in cashless hospital treatment per family each year against a prescribed annual contribution.

Residents in Sector 51 and elsewhere in Gurugram will have their eligibility checked against the Parivar Pehchan Patra, or PPP, database. The announcement sets two contribution bands for families above the Rs 3 lakh threshold and excludes people already entitled to specified government medical benefits.

How much families will contribute

Families with verified annual income above Rs 3 lakh and up to Rs 6 lakh must contribute Rs 4,000 a year. Those with verified annual income above Rs 6 lakh must contribute Rs 5,000. In both bands, the stated treatment ceiling is Rs 5 lakh per family per year at empanelled government and private hospitals.

The administration also described the existing arrangement for eligible families with verified income above Rs 1.80 lakh and up to Rs 3 lakh: their annual contribution is Rs 1,500. These are household income bands, so the rate depends on the verified family income recorded for eligibility.

Verified annual family incomeAnnual contribution
Above Rs 1.80 lakh, up to Rs 3 lakh, existing arrangementRs 1,500
Above Rs 3 lakh, up to Rs 6 lakh, expanded arrangementRs 4,000
Above Rs 6 lakh, expanded arrangementRs 5,000

The district release issued at 4:12 pm IST on October 28 gives November 1 as the start of the expanded arrangement. It says the annual policy period runs from November 1 to October 31 of the following year and that each card is valid for one year.

What the hospital cover includes

According to the deputy commissioner, Chirayu operates under the provisions of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. The release lists 2,694 treatment packages covering surgery, medical treatment and day care procedures. Medicines and tests required within the prescribed package are included.

The announcement says pre-existing illnesses are covered and places no limit on the number or ages of family members within the scheme's stated provisions. It separately says beneficiaries aged 70 or above will be covered under Ayushman Vay Vandana according to the central government's rules.

For eligible treatment, the cover extends to specified investigation expenses up to three days before admission and prescribed medical expenses for 15 days after discharge. Families should establish whether the hospital and proposed package are empanelled before relying on the cashless benefit.

National portability allows beneficiaries to obtain treatment at empanelled hospitals across the country. At admission, the release says they must provide their Ayushman Bharat Golden Card number or PPP identification number.

Payment, cards and exclusions

The administration directs eligible families to the official Chirayu portal for online payment of the annual contribution. Cards will be made through government hospitals, Common Service Centres, village CSC operators and ASHA workers, according to the announcement.

People receiving benefits under the Central Government Health Scheme, the Ex Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme, railway health services or other specified government medical schemes are excluded under the prescribed rules. Haryana government employees, pensioners and their dependants who are entitled to medical reimbursement or cashless treatment from the government are also outside this expansion.

The same exclusion applies to employees, pensioners and dependants receiving medical benefits from other state governments or Union Territory administrations. The income bands therefore need to be read alongside these exclusions; an income figure alone does not establish entitlement.
