VARANASI: The district supply office set a target of reaching 269,923 Ujjwala households with free LPG refills in an announcement reported on Tuesday, October 27. District Supply Officer K. B. Singh said the assistance would be available in two phases, from October to December 2026 and from January to March 2027.

The districtwide target covers eligible Ujjwala connection holders, including households in Pindra block. Singh asked beneficiaries to check whether their bank accounts were linked to Aadhaar and whether verification was complete. The immediate task for families is to resolve those banking requirements before seeking the refill benefit.

Two phases and a larger district target

The local announcement puts the combined assistance at Rs 1,005.50 for each qualifying refill. It attributes Rs 359.52 to the Centre and Rs 645.98 to the state government. These are the amounts described in the district announcement, rather than a separate announcement of a change in the general LPG retail price.

Singh said 165,855 beneficiaries had received the free refill benefit during the previous Diwali period. This year's target is 104,068 higher. The comparison is between last year's reported use of the benefit and the current target, so it does not establish that all 269,923 households have already received a cylinder or a payment.

  • District target: 269,923 Ujjwala households.
  • First phase: October to December 2026.
  • Second phase: January to March 2027.
  • Combined assistance stated per refill: Rs 1,005.50.
  • Required check: Aadhaar linkage and completed verification.

The announcement concerns refills for existing eligible Ujjwala households. Residents should distinguish that benefit from applying for a new connection. The official Ujjwala portal has separate sections for new connections, refill booking, consumer information and banking forms.

Check the bank link and use official booking routes

Singh advised households whose accounts were not linked to Aadhaar, or whose verification remained incomplete, to approach the relevant bank and finish the formalities. The official portal carries an NPCI form for Aadhaar linkage with a bank and identifies it as a form to be submitted to the bank. It also provides a PAHAL joining form and a grievance redressal form for that direct benefit transfer scheme.

The portal lists refill booking routes separately for Indane, Bharat Gas and HP Gas. Common Service Centres are among the booking facilities it identifies. Consumers can use the entry for the company supplying their connection, rather than treating a booking route for another company as interchangeable.

For assistance, the portal lists 14438 as the Ujjwala helpline and 14428 as a toll free helpline. It separately identifies 1906 as the LPG emergency number. A routine question about eligibility, booking or bank verification belongs with the scheme or supplier's assistance route; the emergency number is listed for LPG emergencies.

The official LPG consumer page also separates the three suppliers and provides access to PAHAL information, forms and safety guidance. These national resources help with the process, but the Varanasi household target and the two phase schedule come from the district officer's locally reported announcement of October 27, corroborated by further local reports on October 28.

What households should confirm next

The published local announcement does not specify an individual bank credit date or a delivery appointment for each household. Families should confirm their account status and the applicable refill procedure with their bank and LPG supplier. The district's target should not be read as confirmation that a particular household's verification has cleared.

Other recent local service reporting includes the approval of water and sewerage projects, the Saket Nagar sewer work inspection and the municipal complaint hearing. Those concern separate services and do not change the LPG eligibility requirements.
