VARANASI: Municipal Commissioner Himanshu Nagpal heard 12 complaints at the Sambhav public hearing at Nagar Nigam headquarters in Sigra on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. The corporation said the cases covered streets, roads and drains, encroachment, property assessment, mutation, salary payment, electricity poles and sewer problems affecting residents and other applicants.

In an official update published at 5:00 pm IST on October 27, the corporation said every complaint had been entered on its portal and action had begun towards disposal. The statement records registration and the start of action; it does not report that all 12 cases have been resolved.

What the hearing recorded

The complaints brought together several different municipal responsibilities at one hearing. Road and drain cases concerned physical infrastructure, while assessment and mutation cases concerned property records. Salary payment was also among the subjects listed, so the total should not be read as 12 separate construction or sanitation complaints.

The official account does not divide the total by subject or publish individual case numbers. It also does not give an order for a particular property, identify an encroachment finding, or set a public completion date for each application. Residents following an individual case will need its own response to establish what action has been approved.

  • Hearing date: Tuesday, October 27, 2026.
  • Venue: Nagar Nigam headquarters, Sigra.
  • Officer: Municipal Commissioner Himanshu Nagpal.
  • Applications received: 12 across the subjects listed by the corporation.
  • Recorded next step: portal registration and action towards disposal.

The corporation's official Sambhav update is the primary record of the hearing. Its photographs show applicants presenting papers at the municipal office. Registration of a complaint gives the authority a matter to examine; it does not by itself confirm the underlying allegation or a completed remedy.

Sewer construction also came under review

Separately on Tuesday, Mayor Ashok Kumar Tiwari inspected sewer line installation at Saket Nagar in the Durgakund area. Two reports published on October 27 and early October 28 agree that he reviewed progress and quality and instructed officials and the executing agency to maintain standards and complete work within the stipulated period.

Those reports place the Saket Nagar work within an AMRUT 2.0 programme for 22 municipal wards. They give a programme cost of Rs 2,161 crore, with 353.13 kilometres of sewer lines and 651.64 kilometres of drinking water pipelines. These are figures for the wider programme, rather than the length or cost of the Saket Nagar stretch alone.

The distinction matters when residents assess progress in their own lane. A citywide pipeline total cannot establish that a particular local section is finished or connected. The inspection reports do not provide a calendar completion date for Saket Nagar or identify a newly announced road closure.

Where residents can check municipal contacts

The corporation's official contact page lists its head office in Sigra near Shaheed Udyan Park. It gives the toll free numbers 18001805567 and 1533, along with the telephone number 05422720005. Applicants can use those listed channels to ask which municipal office is handling their subject and how to follow an existing application.
