GURUGRAM: Police said on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, that a team from the Sector 65 Crime Branch had seized 673 kilograms of ganja from a truck and arrested two men. Investigators said the consignment was being taken from Odisha to Bhiwadi in Rajasthan, with the material concealed beneath bags of plastic granules.

The recovery was estimated by police at about Rs 1.25 crore. The case was registered at Sadar police station in Gurugram, and the accused were produced before a court that placed them in police custody for 10 days for questioning. The allegations remain subject to investigation and trial.

What police say was recovered

According to the police account carried in matching reports, the Sector 65 team acted on information about the consignment. Sub-Inspector Arun, who heads the unit, led the operation. Officers intercepted the Rajasthan-registered truck and searched the load, finding the ganja in 23 bags beneath the plastic granules.

The two accused were identified as Sabir, 34, the driver, and Sanawar, 19, the cleaner. Both are from Rajasthan's Khairthal district, according to police. The truck was also taken into custody. The reported Rs 1.25 crore figure is an estimate attached to the seized substance, not a cash recovery.

  • Investigating team: Sector 65 Crime Branch.
  • Case registered: Sadar police station.
  • Custody reported: 10 days.

Inquiry turns to suppliers and recipients

ACP Crime Naveen Sharma said the initial questioning indicated that Sabir owned the truck and had employed Sanawar as a cleaner for Rs 20,000 a month. Investigators alleged that the two were to receive Rs 2 lakh from associates for transporting the consignment to Rajasthan.

Police also alleged that similar loads had been carried on two earlier occasions with ganja hidden among plastic granules and other goods. That account comes from the investigation and should not be treated as a finding that either accused has been convicted over those alleged journeys.

The immediate inquiry concerns the source in Odisha, the intended recipients in Bhiwadi and the identities of other people allegedly involved. Police said questioning was continuing. The reports reviewed do not establish a completed charge sheet, a verdict or a final account of the wider network.

The case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The custody order allows further questioning; it does not decide guilt. Neither the police estimate of value nor the alleged transport payment establishes what any accused ultimately earned.
