Gemini scheduled actions let you run a recurring prompt at a chosen time, such as a daily language exercise or weekly planning session. Google's current help page calls the feature Schedules. To set one up on the web, describe what you want and when in a Gemini prompt, submit it, and review the schedule summary. Keep Activity must be turned on, and an account can have up to ten active schedules.

The steps here were checked against Google's computer help page for Schedules on 7 November 2026 at 22:00 IST. This is a documentation based walkthrough, without an account login or a live scheduling test. Google says availability is being expanded gradually to personal accounts, so a reader may not yet see every control.

How to create Gemini scheduled actions

Start with a task that benefits from repetition. Decide its subject, frequency, delivery time and expected length before sending the prompt. “Help me revise” leaves several decisions open. A better request identifies the skill, the size of each exercise and the routine you want. For Indian readers, explicitly writing India Standard Time avoids leaving your intended time zone implicit.

Here is an original study prompt: “Every weekday at 7:30 pm India Standard Time, give me five short English vocabulary questions suitable for an intermediate learner. Put the answers after a clearly labelled divider so I can attempt the questions first. Include one sentence explaining each answer.” Its purpose is repeatable practice, with a predictable amount of work rather than an unlimited lesson.

Submit the request and inspect Gemini's summary. Check the frequency and time as carefully as the subject. If you intended weekdays, a summary saying daily would include a different routine. Correct the instructions in the schedule's chat or edit the schedule. The confirmation is the point at which to catch that mismatch, before depending on the next delivery.

A second original prompt suits weekly preparation: “Every Sunday at 6 pm India Standard Time, give me a blank planning checklist for the next week. Include study, household tasks, appointments and time for rest. Ask me to supply my commitments; do not invent calendar events.” This asks for a recurring structure without claiming that Gemini already knows private plans you have not connected or provided.

Where to find, pause or delete Gemini schedules

The current web instructions direct readers to Scheduled on the sidebar. To pause or resume a routine, hover over it, open More and select Pause or Resume. Pausing keeps the schedule available while stopping its prompts until you resume it. This is useful during a holiday or an examination break when you want to retain the routine's instructions.

To edit, open the schedule, update its form and save. Google also describes a Go to chat option and allows changes through the associated conversation. To delete a routine, hover over it and use More, then Delete. Review whether you want a temporary pause or permanent removal before choosing. The ten active schedule limit makes it sensible to review routines that no longer serve a purpose.

Google's help page says a ready response appears as unread under All in the web sidebar and on the Scheduled page. That means an unread schedule conversation is worth checking even if you expected a more conspicuous alert. Keep a distinction between whether the routine ran and whether you noticed its notification; they are different troubleshooting questions.

Why Gemini scheduled actions may not be working

First check account availability and Keep Activity. The official page says schedules are not available when that setting is off. Work and school users also need a qualifying Workspace edition. Do not assume that a feature demonstrated in another person's account has already reached yours. Google's public help describes a gradual rollout to personal accounts.

Next check whether the routine is paused or has been turned off through inactivity. Google says inactivity can automatically disable a schedule and that it can be resumed. Inspect the saved instructions too. A routine intended for one city may continue using the location where it was created, unless you update it to specify another location or create a replacement.

If the request uses another app, that app must be connected. Start by identifying which information the task actually needs. A generic practice quiz does not require access to your calendar. A daily summary of your appointments does. Connect access only when it is necessary for the requested workflow, and check the resulting summary against the underlying information.

Are scheduled answers live at the delivery time?

Google says content is prepared within the hour leading up to delivery. Because the answer is prepared in advance, rapidly changing information can already be out of date when it arrives. Use schedules for practice, planning and summaries that tolerate that delay. For a time critical decision, open the relevant official source again at the point of use.

For related study workflows, see our Gemini Guided Learning guide, PDF summary prompts and chat sharing checks. A scheduled exercise can organise revision, but the answers still need review against your course material.
