To share a Gemini chat link, open the conversation on the Gemini website, select Share below a response, then choose Share conversation. Google creates a public link that anyone possessing it can read and pass along. The shared page contains the entire conversation, so review everything in the thread before creating the link, even if you only meant to show one useful answer.

These instructions follow Google's official Gemini sharing help page, checked on 5 November 2026. They describe the website controls. We checked the sequence against the public documentation without signing into an account or creating a public conversation.

How to share a Gemini chat link

First, sign into your own Gemini account when you want to use the feature. Open the relevant conversation and find the sharing control beneath a response. Choose Share conversation. Google says the resulting g.co/gemini/share address is copied automatically, ready to paste into the place where you intend to share it.

Before that final action, read from the beginning of the thread. A class presentation may have started with a personal introduction, an unpublished document or somebody else's photograph. Sharing one polished answer through the conversation control makes the wider discussion available too. If the thread contains information you should keep private, prepare a separate version containing only material you can share.

Google specifically says an image uploaded to a shared chat becomes available to view and download. It also says the public page includes generated artifacts such as Canvas documents, images and videos. That makes an attachment review as useful as a text review. Look beyond the last answer and check the material that produced it.

Is a shared Gemini chat private?

The access rule is simple: possession of the link allows reading. A recipient can reshare it with another person whom you never selected. Sending the address to a small class group does not turn the page into a group restricted document. Use this feature for content you are comfortable making accessible through that link.

Google says it does not add your name or account to the public address or shared page. However, that does not remove names or identifying details you typed into the conversation. For example, a project brief containing a person's contact information still needs an editorial check before sharing. An account name being absent is a different question from personal information appearing inside the text.

The page is a snapshot of the conversation when you created the public link. Continuing the original thread or editing it later will not change that snapshot. If you discover a mistake after sharing, do not assume correcting your own chat corrects the public copy. Review the existing link and decide whether to remove it and prepare a fresh share.

How to delete a Gemini public link

On the Gemini website, open Settings at the bottom and choose Your public links. Find the relevant entry and select Delete public link. Google also documents a Delete all links control for removing all your public links. These are the controls to use when your intention is to withdraw access through a shared address.

After deletion, someone opening that address sees a message that the chat no longer exists and is redirected to Gemini. Removing the link leaves the original conversation in your Gemini Apps activity. It also leaves any third party post containing the address in place, although the deleted address no longer opens that shared chat.

There is another limit to withdrawal: if a recipient continued the conversation in their own Gemini account, deleting your link does not delete their activity. Think about this before sharing material that may need to be recalled later. A public link offers convenient distribution, but the deletion control does not reverse every action a recipient has already taken.

Why is Gemini Share missing or restricted?

Google says an organization can disable conversation sharing, so a missing Share option may reflect a Workspace administrator setting. Continuing a shared conversation is unavailable to users under 18 and for chats created with Gems. Google also documents subscription conditions when continuing a chat created by a subscriber. Reading, resharing and continuing are separate capabilities.
