NEW DELHI: AISSEE 2027 eligibility depends on a child's date of birth and the class sought. For Class 6, the permitted birth dates are 1 April 2015 to 31 March 2017, inclusive. For Class 9, they are 1 April 2012 to 31 March 2014, inclusive. The National Testing Agency's application window opened on 3 November 2026, with the regular deadline set for 2 December 2026 at 11:50 pm IST.

The reference date for age is 31 March 2027. Parents should compare the child's birth certificate with the full date range, rather than calculate age on the entrance examination day. These details were checked against the official AISSEE 2027 information bulletin on 4 November 2026 at 21:51 IST.

AISSEE 2027 eligibility for Class 6 and Class 9

The official AISSEE portal lists the application link and the information bulletin under its Information menu. Chapter 5 of the bulletin contains the eligibility conditions. Girls can apply for Class 6 under the same age conditions as boys. Families must check the school wise availability of seats for girls in the bulletin's appendix.

Girls can also apply for Class 9, subject to vacancies, with the same age criteria as boys. A Class 9 applicant must have passed Class 8 from a recognised school by the time of admission. That wording matters: the school qualification is linked to admission, while the age calculation uses the fixed March reference date.

For example, a child born on 1 April 2015 falls on the older boundary for Class 6, while one born on 31 March 2017 falls on its younger boundary. Both dates are included. A family whose child's birthday falls outside either boundary should not assume that being in a particular school class changes the published age rule.

Are approved New Sainik Schools covered by the same rules?

The bulletin separately explains approved New Sainik Schools and their Sainik School vertical. Their Class 6 age window is the same, but parents must identify the admission route. Category A draws candidates through AISSEE merit. Category B concerns students already enrolled in the school, with additional conditions about their current studies. These labels describe admission routes and should not be confused with social reservation categories.

Under the Class 6 Category B route, the child must be studying in the approved New Sainik School where admission is sought and must have passed or be appearing in Class 5 as on 31 March 2027. The bulletin describes a minimum 40 percent Category A route and a maximum 60 percent Category B route. It also provides for unfilled Category B seats to be filled from eligible Category A candidates.

Class 9 entry in approved New Sainik Schools is restricted to schools whose Sainik School vertical has progressed to that level and to the relevant vacant seats. Families should read that school's entry in the official material rather than assume that every participating school offers both entry classes. Check the school, class, gender and route together before choosing an option.

AISSEE application fees and documents to prepare

The regular examination fee is Rs 850 for General, wards of defence personnel and ex servicemen, and OBC NCL candidates covered by the central list. It is Rs 700 for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates. The bulletin says applicable bank or payment service charges are additional and the examination fee is non refundable.

The published late application period runs from 3 to 6 December 2026, with an additional Rs 500 late fee and a final transaction deadline of 11:50 pm IST on 6 December. The correction window is scheduled for 7 to 9 December, ending at 11:50 pm IST. These are scheduled windows, so check subsequent notices before relying on a deadline.

Begin by opening the application link on the official portal and registering with the required email address and mobile number. Complete the form, record the generated application number and upload the specified photograph, signature and thumb impression. The bulletin also lists a birth certificate, domicile certificate and applicable category or defence service documents. Applicants using the relevant existing student route need the principal's certificate.

Pay through the available official payment gateway and save the confirmation page after successful payment. The bulletin says submission remains incomplete without the fee step. It does not require parents to send the confirmation page or supporting documents to NTA by post. Retain the originals because admission involves verification against the information supplied.

Does meeting eligibility guarantee a seat?

No. For existing Sainik Schools, the normal qualifying requirement is 25 percent in each subject and 40 percent overall. The bulletin provides an exception to these minimum marks for SC and ST candidates in existing Sainik Schools. For approved New Sainik Schools, the stated minimum marks apply to all candidates, including SC and ST candidates. Admission also depends on merit, counselling, medical fitness and document verification.
