VARANASI: The district election office has published polling station lists dated Thursday, November 5, 2026, for all eight Assembly constituencies in Varanasi, giving residents of areas including Shivpur, Durgakund and Ramnagar a constituency wise route to check the building and room associated with their locality. The new files are linked from the official election portal and cover the 2026-2027 polling station lists.

Residents should open their Assembly constituency's file, find their locality and read across the entire row, including the room number and the area served. A familiar school name alone may not be enough: the documents show several separately numbered polling stations within the same building, sometimes serving different neighbourhoods.

The publication is a useful document check for voters preparing to verify their electoral details. It does not announce a polling day or direct residents to attend a booth this weekend. For individual registration or the status of an application, use the separate voter services links on the District Election Officer portal rather than treating a polling station list as proof that a person's name is registered.

Which constituency file to open

The official November 5 polling station page provides eight downloads. Its organisation follows Assembly constituency numbers, beginning with Pindra, 384, and ending with Sevapuri, 391. Between them are Ajagara, 385; Shivpur, 386; Rohaniya, 387; Varanasi North, 388; Varanasi South, 389; and Varanasi Cantonment, 390.

The page also identifies the parliamentary constituency grouping for each file. Pindra appears under Machhlishahr, while Ajagara and Shivpur appear under Chandauli. Rohaniya, Varanasi North, Varanasi South, Varanasi Cantonment and Sevapuri appear under Varanasi. These headings help readers distinguish the district's eight Assembly files from a list restricted to the Varanasi parliamentary constituency.

  • Document date: November 5, 2026.
  • Local coverage: eight Assembly constituencies.
  • Key fields: polling station number, location, building, room and area served.
  • Separate task: check personal electoral registration through voter services.

The North, South and Cantonment documents reviewed for this report use a table with columns for the polling station's location, the building where it is to be established, the area covered and whether it serves all voters or a specified group. Residents should preserve the station number alongside the address when asking the election office to clarify an entry.

Why room numbers and localities matter

In the Varanasi North file, the first four entries are separate rooms at Guru Nanak English School in Bharlai, Shivpur. The next four entries list rooms at St Joseph School in Bharlai. The sequence illustrates why recognising a neighbourhood or school does not identify a unique polling station within a larger premises.

The same file lists Mahesh Vidya Mandir at Tarna in three successive entries. Its first room is associated with Tarna Khas, while the following two refer to Tarna Bazar. Readers should therefore check the area column as carefully as the building column before deciding that an entry applies to their address.

In Varanasi South, the opening entries identify rooms at the basic primary school in Kamalgarha. Later entries in that file cover Durgakund and Ravindrapuri. The Cantonment file includes Lallapura Kalan at its beginning and Ramnagar entries near its end. These are examples from the published tables, not a determination of any individual resident's assigned booth.

The Cantonment table gives another useful example at Abhishek Vidyayatan in Lallapura Kalan. Its first room entry covers Lallapura Kalan and Pitarkunda, while following rooms have their own area entries. The reviewed North file ends at station number 405, South at 298 and Cantonment at 419. These numbers belong to separate constituency lists and should always be quoted with the constituency name.

What residents should do

Start at the district's District Election Officer portal and select the link labelled Polling Station List with the November 5 date. Keep that date visible when saving or printing the relevant pages, so an older download is not mistaken for this publication. If the PDF's text search returns unfamiliar characters, inspect the displayed table directly; the downloaded files reviewed here contain Hindi text whose extracted characters do not always reproduce correctly.

For personal electoral information, the same portal provides separate links to online voter registration, application status and a search for a name in the electoral list. The district also says voter registration centres operate in its three tehsils and in Kashi Vidyapeeth and Cholapur blocks. Confirm the relevant office's arrangements before making a visit, because the November 5 list itself supplies no special counter hours.

The earlier district polling station draft report and voter inclusion camp report provide background on earlier stages. Their dates and arrangements should be kept separate from these newly listed files. Another current district document is covered in the Anganwadi selection list report.
