VARANASI: The District Programme Officer published a memorandum on Thursday, November 5, 2026, declaring 173 applicants selected as Anganwadi workers across nine child development projects. Applicants in Nagar Kshetra, Kashi Vidyapeeth, Araziline and the other listed projects can now check their entries in the six page official selection list.
The immediate task is to match the application number with the project and Anganwadi centre shown in the document. The list includes centres in Manduadih, Susuwahi, Bhullanpur, Bhadaini and Sigra, among many other localities. A matching name alone gives less certainty than checking the complete entry against the original application.
Selected applicants should watch for a separate communication about appointment letters. The memorandum expressly says the distribution information will be issued separately. It supplies no collection venue, reporting hour or appointment letter distribution date, so applicants should not arrange a visit on the assumption that publication of the list is itself a call to report.
What the selection notice confirms
The district recruitment notice links the selection to an earlier advertisement dated July 1, 2026. That advertisement invited online applications for 187 vacant Anganwadi worker posts in the district's nine child development projects. The application period ended on July 31, 2026.
According to the memorandum, the district selection committee examined the recruitment portal's application broadsheet and the documents uploaded by applicants. It says the selection followed the state government's September 17, 2025 order. The District Magistrate approved the committee's recommendation on November 4, 2026, before the November 5 memorandum declared the selected candidates.
The final page explains why the number selected is lower than the advertised vacancies: suitable applicants were not available for 14 posts. The notice does not announce a fresh application round for those posts. The 173 selections and 14 unfilled posts together account for the original 187 vacancies.
Where to look in the six page list
The entries run in project groups rather than one districtwide alphabetical sequence. Each row provides a serial number, project name, application number, centre name, centre code, applicant name and identifying family details. This arrangement lets applicants narrow their search to their own project before checking the application number.
Counting the serial entries gives the following project breakdown. These figures describe the published selections, rather than the total number of Anganwadi centres operating in each area:
- Araziline: entries 1 to 26, covering 26 selections.
- Badagaon: entries 27 to 39, covering 13 selections.
- Chiraigaon: entries 40 to 47, covering eight selections.
- Cholapur: entries 48 to 57, covering 10 selections.
- Harahua: entries 58 to 62, covering five selections.
- Kashi Vidyapeeth: entries 63 to 89, covering 27 selections.
- Pindra: entries 90 to 99, covering 10 selections.
- Sewapuri: entries 100 to 108, covering nine selections.
- Nagar Kshetra: entries 109 to 173, covering 65 selections.
Araziline starts on the first page and continues onto the second. Kashi Vidyapeeth occupies much of the third page, while the Nagar Kshetra entries extend across the fourth, fifth and sixth pages. Applicants should therefore continue through a page break if their project has begun but their centre is not yet visible.
What applicants should do
Open the PDF through the district notice and keep the complete document available when checking a result. The PDF is a scanned list, so a browser's text search may not reliably locate a name or application number. Reading the relevant project section directly is the more dependable way to check an entry.
Pay particular attention to the centre suffix and code. Several localities have more than one numbered centre. Manduadih, Karaundi, Bhullanpur and Sigra, for example, each appear in multiple entries. Applicants should compare the precise centre designation rather than treating every entry carrying their neighbourhood's name as the same post.
The district website displays November 5 as the notice's start date and November 30 as its end date. Those are the website listing dates. The memorandum concerns applications that closed in July and does not make November 30 a new application deadline or a deadline to collect an appointment letter.
For other local employment and application background, readers can consult the earlier Varanasi employment roundup, the report on separate hospital contract applications and the district invitation for senior citizen service proposals. Each has its own process; none changes the Anganwadi selection instructions.
