VARANASI: Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith issued a notice on Friday, November 6, 2026, extending online admission applications for its affiliated colleges in Varanasi and Chandauli to November 17. The notice comes from the university at Maldahiya and describes this as the final extension for the 2026-27 session. It covers all courses at those colleges except B.Sc. Agriculture at Government PG College, Jakkhini.
The circular moves the previous November 12 application deadline to November 17 on the Samarth portal. Applicants should check their particular college and programme before relying on the extension. The university has not announced a new deadline for every campus admission process through this circular, and it gives no closing hour for November 17.
There is also a practical issue to resolve before applying: when checked on Saturday morning, November 7, the public admission portal still displayed registration as closed, with an October 31 deadline. Applicants should keep the November 6 notice and ask their intended college or the admission helpdesk which application route will implement it. The notice alone does not establish that a new registration can already be submitted.
Who the extension covers
The official admission circular names affiliated colleges in two districts, Varanasi and Chandauli. Its wording matters for students choosing between a college and the university's own campus. A general reference to MGKVP admissions does not identify which institution or course an applicant is seeking to enter.
The single stated course exception is B.Sc. Agriculture at the government postgraduate college in Jakkhini. Students seeking that course should obtain its applicable admission instructions separately. They should not treat the November 17 date as an extension for the excluded programme.
For other applicants, the immediate task is to identify the college, course and current application status. Someone who already has an account should distinguish an unfinished profile from an application submitted for a particular programme. The portal's public instructions describe those as separate stages, with a programme choice and programme fee following completion of the profile.
- Notice issued: November 6, 2026.
- Previous deadline: November 12, 2026.
- Revised final deadline: November 17, 2026.
- Institutions covered: affiliated colleges in Varanasi and Chandauli.
- Exception: B.Sc. Agriculture at Government PG College, Jakkhini.
- Closing time: not stated in the circular.
What applicants should do
The university links its admission services to the official Samarth admission portal. Its public help page explains that registration requires a full name, date of birth, email address, contact number and password. Those are preparation requirements described by the portal, rather than confirmation that registration is open for every course today.
After registration, the published procedure calls for profile details, a photograph, signature and other relevant documents. Applicants must read the declaration, preview their information and submit the profile before selecting programmes. The help page then directs them to pay the programme fee. It does not provide a single fee amount applicable to all courses in the November extension.
The payment instructions list debit cards, credit cards, net banking and UPI. The help page also tells applicants to download the completed application after final submission and retain a printout. Students should keep that record together with the payment confirmation so they can identify the stage completed if a college asks for clarification. Applicants who have lost account access can use the password reset facility, which sends instructions to their registered email address.
The public portal gives admissionhelpline@mgkvp.ac.in as its support address. A useful enquiry should identify the intended affiliated college, programme and whether the applicant already has an account. That allows the query to address the November 6 extension specifically, rather than a different admission cycle shown elsewhere on the site.
A separate change to the university admission cell
Another order posted on November 6 dissolves the university's 2026-27 admission cell from that date, citing completion of counselling and the need to run classes according to the academic calendar. It separately assigns admission to any remaining B.P.Ed. and M.P.Ed. seats after the November 2 counselling to the Physical Education Department.
Applicants for those physical education seats should therefore check with that department. The order identifies the responsible department but does not list the number of remaining seats or announce another counselling date. The earlier B.P.Ed. and M.P.Ed. counselling report provides background to that process.
Students should also keep this college application extension separate from the previously reported semester fee and examination form deadlines and the request for missing practical marks. Those concern different administrative steps. The immediate admission checks are the college and course covered, the application route implementing the new dates, and proof of submission once the relevant facility is available.
