NEW DELHI: TVS gives the XL100 a standard warranty of 3 years or 36,000 km, whichever comes first. The owner manual makes the claim process more specific: the vehicle must be presented to an authorised TVS dealer with its Service Handbook so the reported problem can be inspected. The duration alone does not establish that a particular repair is covered.
| XL100 warranty point | What TVS states |
|---|---|
| Standard cover | 3 years or 36,000 km, whichever is earlier |
| Covered fault | Manufacturing defect accepted after company examination |
| Claim route | Authorised dealer and Service Handbook |
| Ownership transfer | Remaining original cover continues |
| Paid extension | Up to 5 years total where offered, scheme dependent |
Prepare a fault description before the visit
Begin with what happened: whether the symptom appeared while starting, riding or stopping, and whether it repeats. Bring the service record and note the odometer reading. These are practical ways to make the inspection easier; they do not substitute for TVS accepting the fault as a manufacturing defect.
The manual says the company's obligation is to repair or replace covered defective parts after examination. A claim should therefore identify the problem for assessment rather than assume a complete assembly will automatically be replaced. Ask the workshop to record both the complaint and its finding on the job card.
The XL100's utilitarian design makes that distinction especially relevant. The HD Alloy product page shows a detachable seat and a large floorboard, but an illustration of carrying convenience is not a warranty undertaking. Equipment descriptions and contractual use restrictions need to be read separately.
Check the use restrictions carefully
The manual excludes vehicles used otherwise than for ordinary personal transportation and separately identifies commercial uses such as taxi, rental or hiring. An owner whose use differs from personal transport should seek a written explanation of how the relevant clause applies. A general description of the moped as practical cannot override those terms.
This is a meaningful distinction for a vehicle that may be considered for household errands as well as work. The question is not simply whether the moped has space for an object. It is what the warranty actually permits and whether the reported damage falls within its coverage. Avoid assuming that every use shown in advertising creates identical repair rights.
Wear, maintenance and supplier parts
TVS excludes natural wear and ageing. The manual also separates routine maintenance from covered defects, and lists items such as chain and sprockets, clutch and brake linings among wear items. A worn part and a manufacturing fault can produce similar complaints from the rider's perspective, which is why the workshop's recorded reason matters.
Tyres, tubes and batteries have their own supplier-related warranty route under the manual. Ask which component is involved before assuming the vehicle's headline warranty duration applies unchanged. The relevant paperwork should identify the part, its supplier and the reason a claim is accepted or refused.
The handbook also ties warranty eligibility to scheduled servicing through authorised dealers. Keep the stamped service entries after each visit. An invoice can help explain what was done, while a completed handbook provides the specific record the manual asks the customer to produce during a claim.
Transfers and extensions need different checks
When ownership changes, the manual says the remaining original warranty remains effective for the new owner. That is a continuation of unused cover, rather than a fresh period beginning with the transfer. Preserve the original purchase information and the existing service history with the vehicle's papers.
The XL100 FAQ describes a paid extension up to the total shown above where offered, with availability, price and coverage depending on the local scheme. Before relying on an extension, obtain its written terms and check what is included. The standard warranty and an optional paid product should not be combined into an assumed promise.
For model costs, see our XL100 variant price list. The Jupiter range guide and NTORQ 150 price list cover different TVS products. Their prices and equipment do not establish the warranty terms for an XL100 claim.
