Tamil Nadu opens M.Sc Neuro Surgical Care at Kilpauk; apply by 22 September

Online applications for M.Sc Neuro Surgical Care at Government Kilpauk Medical College, Chennai, opened at 10:00 AM on 18 September 2026 and close at 5:00 PM on 22 September 2026. The Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education and Research, issued the 2026-27 prospectus under G.O.(D) No.1074, Health and Family Welfare (PME1) Department, dated 16 September 2026.

The course runs only at Kilpauk Medical College and is affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr M.G.R. Medical University. The prospectus fixes 10 seats, a two-year duration, and tuition fee of Rs 15,000 as per G.O.(D) No.1073. Application fee is Rs 1,200, non-refundable, payable only through the online payment portal.

Who can apply and how merit is built

Candidates need a B.Sc Nursing or Post Basic B.Sc Nursing degree with at least 50 percent aggregate across semesters (45 percent for BC, BCM, MBC, DNC and SC, SCA, ST categories as stated). Age should be at least 21 years as on 31 December 2026.

Merit is academic. Total marks from all semesters are reduced to a base of 100. Inter-se merit uses fewer appearances in the final semester, then final-semester marks, then older age, if scores tie. There is no separate entrance test in the prospectus timetable; rank and counselling dates will be notified later on tnmedicalselection.net.

Joining money, hepatitis-B rule and where to watch updates

Candidates selected in online counselling must pay Rs 5,000 online when downloading the allotment order. A Rs 500 online fee applies to certain counselling steps. Students who join and later discontinue face a demand draft of Rs 1,50,000 as set out in the discontinuation clause. Hepatitis-B vaccination requirements appear in the annexures.

Any schedule change will appear only on www.tnmedicalselection.net. Candidates should keep nursing marksheets, degree or provisional certificates and community documents ready before the 22 September close.

Kilpauk is the sole government campus listed for this specialised nursing-linked masters, so applicants should not expect a multi-college matrix at first counselling.

Nurses filing other allied-masters forms in the same week should track each prospectus separately because seat matrices do not merge across courses.
