Tamil Nadu's Selection Committee has published the tentative Round 2 counselling schedule for MDS degree seats in government dental colleges and for government and management quota seats, including minority and NRI categories, in self-financing dental colleges for 2026-27. The schedule, issued by the Directorate of Medical Education and Research, Chennai, starts on 22 September 2026 on tnmedicalselection.net.

Registration and payment run from 10:00 AM on 22 September to 5:00 PM on 23 September 2026. The round covers government quota general ranks 001 to 1118, with NEET marks from 772 down to 272, and management quota general ranks 001 to 660, with marks from 665 down to 272. Choice filling and locking were scheduled from 10:00 AM on 24 September to 5:00 PM on 25 September 2026.

Result, allotment download and joining

The result is scheduled for 26 September 2026. Candidates can download provisional allotment orders from 27 September until 3:00 PM on 30 September 2026, and the last date of joining is 5:00 PM on 30 September 2026. Allotted candidates must pay the tuition fee online to download the allotment order. The fee structure is on the Selection Committee website, and the schedule asks candidates to make sure their bank account or card has enough funds and credit limit for the payment.

Fees and security deposits

Fresh candidates who did not register in Round 1 must pay a non-refundable registration fee of Rs 1,000 for government and management quota. Candidates already registered in Round 1 need not pay again. Candidates allotted and joined in Round 1 who want an upgrade must register so that their seat can appear as a virtual vacancy.

At registration, refundable security deposits apply: Rs 30,000 for government dental colleges, Rs 1,00,000 for government quota seats in self-financing dental colleges, and Rs 2,00,000 for management quota seats, including minority and NRI seats, in self-financing dental colleges.

Resignation window and a later start for choices

A notice dated 23 September allowed candidates who had joined a Round 1 seat to resign online without losing their security deposit or tuition fee, from 12 noon on 23 September to 12 noon on 24 September. Resigning candidates had to download a resignation letter and give it to their college to get back their original certificates. Offline resignations were not accepted, and resignations could not be withdrawn after the deadline. Round 1 joiners who neither resigned nor took part in Round 2 are treated as having kept their seats. Colleges were asked to keep staff working on weekends and government holidays until MDS counselling ends.

A further notice dated 24 September said choice filling and locking would start at 2:00 PM on 24 September, so that the resigned seats could be added to the Round 2 pool. A tentative vacancy list for government dental colleges as on 24 September was also posted.

Choice rules

Candidates who applied for both quotas can fill choices in both. Choices can be edited any number of times before locking but not after. Choices not locked by 5:00 PM on 25 September are locked automatically. PwBD candidates must also take part, and PwBD allotment runs before general rank allotment. A virtual vacancy becomes a real seat only if the Round 1 candidate vacates it.

Admission is by online counselling on rank, applying the rule of reservation and the 200-point roster. Candidates must report in person with original certificates and a self-declaration by the stated time, or the allotment is cancelled without notice. Queries go to ddpgselcom@gmail.com.
