Tamil Nadu opens MDS Round 2 counselling from 22 September; join by 30 September

Tamil Nadu's Selection Committee has published the tentative Round 2 counselling schedule for MDS degree seats in government dental colleges and in government and management quota seats, including minority and NRI categories, in self-financing dental colleges for 2026-27. Process clocks begin on 22 September 2026 on tnmedicalselection.net.

Registration and payment run from 10:00 AM on 22 September 2026 to 5:00 PM on 23 September 2026. Government quota registration covers general ranks 001 to 1118 with NEET marks from 772 to 272. Management quota choice filling lists general ranks 001 to 660 with marks from 665 to 272. Choice filling and locking then run from 10:00 AM on 24 September to 5:00 PM on 25 September 2026.

Result, allotment download and joining

Results are scheduled for 26 September 2026. Candidates can download provisional allotment orders from 27 September 2026 through 3:00 PM on 30 September 2026. The last date of joining is 5:00 PM on 30 September 2026. Those clocks leave little room for late fee payments or outstation travel.

Fresh candidates who did not register in Round 1 must pay a non-refundable registration fee of Rs 1,000 for government and management quota. Candidates already registered in Round 1 need not pay again. Candidates allotted and joined in Round 1 who want upgradation must register so that virtual vacancies can arise.

Security deposits and choice discipline

At registration, refundable security deposits apply: Rs 30,000 for government dental colleges, Rs 1,00,000 for government quota seats in self-financing dental colleges, and Rs 2,00,000 for management quota including minority and NRI seats in self-financing dental colleges.

Choice filling allows edits until locking. Once locked, edits stop. If a candidate does not lock by 5:00 PM on 25 September 2026, choices lock automatically. Admission follows online counselling by rank with reservation and the 200-point roster method. PwBD candidates should also participate in this round.

Virtual vacancies linked to Round 1 upgrades become real only if the earlier allotted candidate vacates. Requests to change course or college after final locking are not permitted. Candidates must not share login credentials or OTP.
