The Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education and Research, Chennai-10, has folded newly sanctioned MBBS seats at three self-financing colleges into the ongoing Round 2 online counselling. Notification No.027/SCS1(1)/2026, Dated: 09.09.2026, is a two-page Attention Urgent Notification. The subject line is Medical Education - Inclusion of additional MBBS seats in Self-Financing Medical Colleges and newly permitted Medical College for Round 2 Online Counselling for MBBS/BDS Degree Courses (2026-2027 Session). The Word title embedded in the local PDF is Notification no.27 (1). CreationDate on the file is Wed Sep 9 14:36:11 2026 UTC, which is 20:06 IST the same evening. The portal news path is 09092026073854.pdf on tnmedicalselection.net.

The Committee says it has just received the requisite regulatory approvals and Letters of Permission from the Competent Authority, the National Medical Commission, and the University for the intake or addition of MBBS seats in the three institutions named below. In the larger interest and welfare of aspiring candidates, those newly sanctioned seats are being included directly into the ongoing State Round 2 online counselling. The notice is addressed to all candidates participating in Round 2 online choice filling and choice locking for MBBS/BDS degree courses for the 2026-2027 session.

This file is a mid-round seat-addition notice. It is not the 06.09.2026 tentative Round-II counselling schedule that keeps choice filling and locking open through 13 September 2026 at 02:00 P.M. and publishes the result on 15 September 2026. That schedule pair remains the calendar. Notification 027 remains the list of three colleges whose new seats were dropped into that already-open window on 09 September.

The three colleges and how the new seats are classified

Serial 1 is Madha Medical College and Hospital, Thandalam, Chennai. Nature of college: Self-Financing. Additional seats added: 50. The notice labels this as Increased Intake against Total Approved Intake. Serial 2 is Arunai Medical College and Hospital, Tiruvannamalai. Nature of college: Self-Financing. Additional seats added: 50. That row is also Increased Intake. Serial 3 is APS Medical College Hospital, Mevaloorkuppam, Kancheepuram. Nature of college: Newly Established / Self-Financing. Seats added: 150. That row is Initial Intake (New LOP). Those three figures, 50 plus 50 plus 150, are the only seat totals printed on Notification 027.

A bracket under the table states that seats will be apportioned as per the prevailing Government and Management Quota ratio and Communal Reservation guidelines of the Government of Tamil Nadu. The notice does not print a government-versus-management split for any of the three colleges. Candidates should read the live vacancy and choice lists on the official website for the quota-wise offer, not invent a 50-50 split from the table.

The Selection Committee does not, in this file, change Round 2 rank bands, registration rules, or the 13 September locking close. Those clocks stay on the 06.09 schedule. What this 09.09 file changes is the set of MBBS colleges that can still be added to a Round 2 preference list while that window is open.

What already-submitted candidates can still change

Under Instructions to Candidates, the notice opens a choice-modification and addition path. All eligible candidates participating in Round 2, including those who have already submitted, are hereby permitted to edit, re-order, and add choices for the above-mentioned medical colleges. That sentence is the reason the file is urgent. A candidate who locked a list before 09 September can still return and place Madha, Arunai or APS in the preferred order, or add them if they were never on the list.

Seat allotment, the next instruction says, will be made strictly in accordance with NEET UG 2026 State Rank, Communal Reservation, and the preference choices exercised by the candidate. There is no separate merit list for the newly added seats. The three colleges enter the same Round 2 allotment engine as the rest of the matrix. Candidates are advised to visit the official website www.tnmedicalselection.org regularly for schedule revisions and real-time updates. The notice is signed Selection Committee.

For desk readers who are still inside the Round 2 choice window on 12 September, treat Notification 027 as a college-list update, not as a new calendar. If Madha, Arunai or APS now belongs on your list, edit, reorder or add those choices before the schedule's locking close. If you do not want those colleges, the 09.09 file does not require you to reopen a finished list. Keep this seat-addition notice separate from the court-order eligible-list addendum, the Nursing/Pharmacy/Allied Health Round 2 schedule, and the Pharm.D six-year allotment list that sit on later Education Desk locks.

Notification No.027/SCS1(1)/2026 dated 09.09.2026, posted as 09092026073854.pdf, is the two-page Selection Committee urgent notice that folds Madha (+50), Arunai (+50) and APS Medical College (150) MBBS seats into ongoing Round 2 choice filling and lets already-submitted candidates edit those choices. That seat-addition file, not the 06.09 Round-II schedule, is the story.
