NEW DELHI: GATE 2027 is scheduled for 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21 February 2027, according to IIT Madras, the organising institute. The official calendar sets 4 January for the examination city notification, while the admit card download date remains to be announced. Candidates should not treat the city notification date as the admit card release date.

The schedule was checked on the official GATE Important Dates page on 27 October 2026 at 21:50 IST. The same examination dates appear in the information brochure. Both sources say dates may change, so candidates should use the current calendar when making plans.

What are the GATE 2027 exam timings?

The official information brochure lists two sessions on the examination dates: the forenoon session from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm IST and the afternoon session from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm IST. These are examination session hours, not an instruction to arrive at the centre at the starting time.

The six dates form the overall examination window. They do not mean that an individual candidate must attend on all six days. Nor does their order establish which date belongs to Computer Science, Civil Engineering or another paper.

The Important Dates page reviewed for this report does not allocate individual test papers to sessions. Candidates searching for a branch wise timetable should use an official paper schedule when it is published and then check their own admit card. Assigning a paper to a particular weekend from the general calendar alone would be guesswork.

Is the GATE admit card coming on 4 January?

The current table labels 4 January 2027 as the city allotment notification. It separately marks admit card download as TBA, meaning to be announced. This distinction matters for travel planning because knowing the examination city is not the same as having the document containing the candidate's examination arrangements.

To monitor the official dates, open the GATE 2027 website and select Important Dates from its menu. The public website also links to GOAPS through Login. Once the admit card facility is released, candidates should use the official route and follow the instructions attached to their document.

What should registered candidates check in October?

A nearer deadline appears in the same calendar: application rectification for scrutiny defects closes on 31 October 2026, replacing the earlier 21 October entry. This is the window for addressing defects identified during scrutiny. The separate application data correction window for candidate requested changes with a fee is still marked TBA.

The notifications page states that registration closed on 16 October. An existing applicant's rectification opportunity should therefore not be mistaken for a fresh registration window. Applicants should read the status and any defect message associated with their own application.

The site also tells applicants to retain the DigiLocker account used for their submitted application. That instruction remains relevant while scrutiny is under way. A deadline for repairing an application, a city notification and an admit card release are separate events, each with its own purpose.
