Tamil Nadu issues Master of Occupational Therapy prospectus; apply by 22 September

Tamil Nadu has published the 2026-27 prospectus for the Master of Occupational Therapy course under the allied and healthcare programme. Seats covered are government quota seats in self-financing allied and healthcare institutions affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr M.G.R. Medical University, under G.O.(D) No.1072, Health and Family Welfare (PME1) Department, dated 16 September 2026.

Online applications open at 10:00 AM on 18 September 2026 and close at 5:00 PM on 22 September 2026. The notification date is 18 September 2026. A tentative offline entrance examination is listed for 4 October 2026, subject to change. Rank, counselling, course commencement and closure of admission will be notified later on the Selection Committee website.

Who can apply and what the entrance looks like

Applicants need a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (B.O.T.) from the recognised pathway described in the prospectus, with not less than 50 percent aggregate marks across all semesters. There is no upper age limit. The non-refundable application fee is Rs 1,200 online; SC, SCA and ST candidates of Tamil Nadu are exempted.

The offline entrance is to be held only at Chennai on the tentative 4 October date. Eligible candidates download hall tickets from tnmedicalselection.net. Admission to the entrance or to online counselling does not by itself guarantee a seat if the candidate is later found ineligible. The prospectus also sets rules on prohibited electronic devices in the exam hall and on consequences for malpractice.

Duration, tuition and portal discipline

The Master of Occupational Therapy course runs for two years. Tuition for the government quota in self-financing institutions is Rs 75,000 per annum, with special and other fees payable at the institution at admission. Total seat numbers appear on the website at the time of online counselling.

All schedule changes will be posted only on www.tnmedicalselection.net. The Selection Committee will not contact candidates individually for every update. Candidates should finish the online form and fee payment before 5:00 PM on 22 September, keep B.O.T. mark sheets and certificates ready for upload, and then watch the site for hall ticket and any revised entrance date.

Merit after the entrance follows the prospectus order: entrance performance, then academic marks including the final semester B.O.T. total, then seniority in age, then a computerised random number if needed. Candidates should read clause-level tie-break rules in the PDF rather than assume a single percentage cut.

Documents typically required at application and later at joining include the B.O.T. course completion certificate, degree or provisional certificate, full semester mark sheets, community and nativity certificates where claimed, and transfer or conduct certificates as listed in the annexures. Originals must be produced in person when joining a self-financing institution.

Malpractice at the entrance can bar a candidate from the MOT course for the subsequent two years under the prospectus rules. Candidates should arrive at the Chennai centre only with permitted stationery and without banned electronic devices. Any change to the 4 October tentative date will appear on tnmedicalselection.net before hall tickets become the final word on venue and time.
