NEW DELHI: Suzuki's roadside assistance policy sets a maximum covered distance of 50 km for domestic two-wheelers up to 250 cc, the category that includes the Burgman Street. It also specifies a 7-day cooling-off period when the policy is bought after new-vehicle delivery. Owners should check the assistance certificate before treating a breakdown as a fully covered recovery.

Start with the certificate and destination
The policy describes assistance on national highways, state highways and motorable roads within mainland India, including hilly terrain. The distance is measured from the breakdown location to the activated authorised service centre or drop location. This is a recovery-distance limit, rather than a radius measured from the owner's home.
That distinction matters if a Burgman used mainly for commuting is taken on an unfamiliar intercity route. An owner may be close to home but far from the workshop that can receive the scooter. Before a recovery is arranged, establish which destination is proposed and ask how the covered distance applies to that journey.
Keep the registration, assistance certificate and a clear location description accessible. This is a practical preparation step, not an additional eligibility rule claimed by this article. A precise location and destination make it easier to understand what has been arranged and which part of the journey could attract a charge.
Assistance and repair bills are different
For an on-site minor repair, Suzuki's policy assigns technician labour and conveyance to the provider, while materials and spare parts remain the user's expense. The policy also describes towing for an immobilised vehicle that cannot be repaired on the spot. A recovery benefit should therefore not be read as an undertaking to pay the entire workshop invoice.
The same distinction helps with a flat tyre. The listed benefit involves assistance taking the tyre for repair and refitting it, with incidental charges borne by the user. Ask what work is being arranged and what remains payable before authorising additional work. An itemised explanation is more useful than the broad description of a service as free.
The current Burgman Street product page lists a 124 cc fuel-injected engine and CVT transmission. It gives kerb masses of 114 kg for Ride Connect and 115 kg for Ride Connect TFT. For this scooter, planning how it will reach an authorised workshop is a more concrete ownership exercise than assuming it can simply be moved wherever convenient.
When recording an incident, keep the recovery arrangement and any subsequent repair estimate together. This helps the owner distinguish an assistance charge from a repair charge when reviewing the final paperwork.
Buying cover later changes when it begins to help
The waiting rule deserves attention when assistance is added to an already owned scooter. A later purchase does not have the same cooling-off treatment as a policy sold at delivery. Check the sale date against the event date, and retain the dated certificate instead of relying on a verbal description of the cover.
This also keeps separate products from being confused. Roadside assistance concerns help with an eligible breakdown; a manufacturing-defect warranty has its own conditions. A workshop appointment, a recovery request and a warranty decision are separate stages, even when they concern the same scooter and the same mechanical complaint.

Our Suzuki Access price list: Rs 82,486 to Rs 1,03,179 ex-showroom Delhi explains another Suzuki ownership policy, while the Suzuki Gixxer price list: Rs 1,37,221 to Rs 1,98,476 ex-showroom Delhi concerns planned maintenance rather than recovery.
Before a trip, save the assistance details in a place a travelling companion can also find. The point is to remove avoidable uncertainty about the policy, the destination and payable work when the scooter is already stationary away from home.
