BENGALURU: River Mobility's price page lists the River Indie electric scooter from Rs 1,61,699 ex-showroom in Karnataka, as of 6 October 2026, about 10:55 AM IST. The company's official Indie price page lets buyers pick a city, and the Indie product page says the quoted ex-showroom price already includes the PM E-Drive subsidy and a 750 W charger.

River, registered as River Mobility Private Limited, describes itself as "a design company reshaping personal transportation for livelihood." Its corporate address is in the KIADB EPIP Zone at Whitefield, Bengaluru, and its registered office is in Anna Nagar East, Chennai. The Indie is the only scooter in its range today, and the brand markets it as "the SUV of scooters."

What the Indie offers, on River's own pages

The pitch is practicality rather than raw speed. River highlights 14-inch alloy wheels at the front and rear, which it says help on uneven roads, ramps and slushy shortcuts. Storage is a headline number: 55 litres in total, made up of a 12 litre glovebox and a 43 litre underseat space that the company says can take helmets and work gear.

The Indie also has front foot-pegs, so riders can switch between riding positions on longer trips. River quotes an 18 degree gradeability figure for steep ramps and hilly patches. The site adds that the current model may look slightly different from the photos because of ongoing improvements.

Design has been a big part of the story. River says the Indie won Red Dot awards two years running, for Concept Design in 2024 and Product Design in 2025. The company also sells accessories for the scooter and offers an extended warranty and roadside assistance through its care pages.

Where you can buy it and what to check

River says it now has stores in fifteen states and is still growing, and it lists service locations and a test ride booking flow on its site. The brand runs a River app on Android and iOS. Customer care is care@rideriver.com, and general queries go to hello@rideriver.com, both printed in the site footer.

The Rs 1,61,699 figure is specific to Karnataka. Ex-showroom prices change from state to state because of local taxes and incentives, and on-road cost adds registration, insurance and any dealer charges. Pick your own city on the price page and ask the store for a written on-road quote before you book.

The subsidy point also matters. River says its ex-showroom number already includes the PM E-Drive benefit, so do not expect that amount to come off again at the counter. Our explainer on how much PM E-Drive subsidy you get on an electric scooter walks through the cap and eligibility.

The Indie sits in a crowded part of the market. If you are shortlisting, compare it with the Ampere Nexus EX+ at Rs 1.29 lakh, a family scooter with a 136 km claimed range, and the Ultraviolette Tesseract, which is aimed at riders who want performance and radar-based features.

River's pages put more weight on storage, wheels and comfort than on top speed or acceleration, which tells you who the brand has in mind: delivery riders, small traders and families who use a scooter as a daily work tool. For that buyer, the real tests are service access in their town, battery warranty terms and how quickly spare parts arrive.

One more practical point: the Indie is sold through River's own stores rather than multi-brand dealers, so check how far the nearest service location is from your home before you book. A scooter that has to travel 40 km for every repair will cost you time even if the running cost is low.

Prices in this report are as of 6 October 2026, about 10:55 AM IST, on River's official website. Festive offers can change without a separate announcement, so confirm the final amount on the day you buy. A test ride is free to book on the site and is worth doing before you commit, especially to check the seat height and the weight of the scooter when you push it around.
