NTA publishes UGC-NET June 2026 cutoffs for English, Commerce and Sociology

The National Testing Agency has released subject and category-wise cutoff marks for UGC-NET June 2026 in English, Commerce and Sociology. The cutoff PDF covers the examination held on 9 and 10 September 2026 for those three subjects and lists separate cutoffs for Junior Research Fellowship, Assistant Professor and PhD-only qualifying levels.
NTA had already issued a 17 September 2026 press release declaring results for the same three subjects after the September sitting. Score cards are to be checked on ugcnet.nta.nic.in. The cutoff table is the companion document candidates use to read those scores against category thresholds.
Unreserved cutoffs for English, Commerce and Sociology
For English (subject code 030), the Unreserved cutoffs are 226 marks for JRF, 198 marks for Assistant Professor and 172 marks for PhD only. For Commerce (subject code 008), the Unreserved cutoffs are 210 for JRF, 182 for Assistant Professor and 160 for PhD only. For Sociology (subject code 005), the Unreserved cutoffs are 232 for JRF, 206 for Assistant Professor and 174 for PhD only.
The same table prints how many candidates cleared each Unreserved band. In English, 148 candidates are shown at the Unreserved JRF cutoff, 2,184 at Assistant Professor and 4,540 at PhD only. In Commerce the Unreserved counts are 124, 1,799 and 3,336. In Sociology they are 46, 655 and 1,343.
Other categories and how to read the PDF
OBC (NCL), EWS, SC, ST and PwD sub-categories appear row by row for each subject. For example, English OBC (NCL) cutoffs are 214 for JRF, 180 for Assistant Professor and 156 for PhD only. Commerce OBC (NCL) cutoffs are 198, 166 and 146. Sociology OBC (NCL) cutoffs are 222, 184 and 154. Candidates should read their own category row rather than borrowing another category line.
Where a PwD cell is blank or marked unavailable in the OCR of the official PDF, that cell should not be invented. Candidates in those rows must open the NTA PDF themselves. The Unreserved and major category figures above are taken from the published subject and category-wise cutoff marks sheet for the September sitting.
EWS Unreserved-neighbouring rows in the same PDF show English EWS cutoffs at 216 for JRF, 176 for Assistant Professor and 150 for PhD only. Commerce EWS cutoffs are 200, 166 and 142. Sociology EWS cutoffs are 224, 184 and 146. SC and ST rows for the three subjects are likewise printed in full in the official sheet.
English SC cutoffs in the table are 202 for JRF, 166 for Assistant Professor and 146 for PhD only. Commerce SC cutoffs are 186, 156 and 138. Sociology SC cutoffs are 210, 168 and 140. English ST cutoffs are 198, 164 and 144; Commerce ST cutoffs are 182, 152 and 136; Sociology ST cutoffs are 200, 164 and 142.
The cutoff PDF title block states UGC NET June 2026 examination held on 9th and 10th of September, subject and category wise cutoff marks. Candidates should match subject codes 030 English, 008 Commerce and 005 Sociology when reading their row. Third Gender rows are also printed for English and Commerce in the same sheet and should be read from the PDF directly.
Anyone who appeared in English, Commerce or Sociology on 9 or 10 September should download the cutoff PDF from the NTA UGC-NET notice cluster, compare the three qualifying columns with the score card, and keep both files for counselling or PhD admission paperwork. The controlling numbers are those printed in the official cutoff PDF, not informal shares.
