MINI India opened pre-launch bookings for the Cooper Oxford Edition on 8 October, offering a limited-run version of its three-door hatchback with Union Jack graphics and edition-specific cabin details. The car can be booked through authorised MINI dealerships, while the brand's India website provides a registration-of-interest option.

The dated booking announcement does not state the number of cars allocated to India, a booking deposit or a delivery schedule. The Oxford Edition's India specification sheet also leaves the ex-showroom price field blank. Those gaps separate the confirmed booking opening from a full commercial launch with a published price.

Union Jack details inside and out

The India brochure identifies the Oxford Edition as based on the MINI Cooper S Favoured Pack. It shows two body colours, Chilli Red and Indigo Sunset Blue, with 18-inch Slide Spoke wheels. The blue and red cars share the same British-flag theme rather than having separate edition identities.

The roof graphic is the most visible change. Red, white and blue sections frame the glass roof, while stripes carry the theme onto the bonnet and tailgate. A smaller graphic on the rear combines a Union Jack with a chequered flag. Oxford hub caps and Union Jack valve caps take the detailing down to the wheels.

Inside, the brochure shows JCW seats in black Vescin upholstery. Oxford door-entry sills and a badge on the front floor mats identify the edition when the doors open. A Union Jack steering-wheel badge and a matching key cap continue the treatment beyond the exterior panels.

MINI's India product page also highlights a dedicated background for the digital Personal Mode. The India brochure illustrates this as a Union Jack filling the circular central display. Its gallery brings together full-car views with close-ups of the bonnet, wheels, steering wheel and door entrance, showing how the same motif is repeated across the vehicle. The design package therefore extends beyond the roof sticker shown most prominently in the booking announcement.

India specifications and equipment

The Oxford-specific India specification sheet lists a 1,998 cc engine producing 204 hp and 300 Nm, with maximum torque available from 1,450 to 4,500 rpm. MINI quotes a 0-100 km/h time of 6.6 seconds. The brochure separately confirms a seven-speed Steptronic transmission.

The listed fuel-economy figure is 16.82 km/l. MINI identifies this as a controlled test result under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules. It does not establish consumption on a particular road journey.

Cabin equipment includes a 240 mm OLED touchscreen, head-up display, Harman Kardon sound system and panoramic glass roof. The sheet also lists powered front-seat adjustment with driver memory, a heated steering wheel, wireless charging and an interior camera.

Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Digital Key Plus appear in the connectivity list. Parking equipment includes front and rear distance sensors, a rear-view camera and Parking Assistant. MINI labels the driver-assistance package Level 1, with functions including front-collision warning, lane-departure warning and an attentiveness assistant.

Booking access and the Oxford connection

MINI's 8 October release lists 18 sales touchpoints across 17 Indian cities. These include Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Lucknow, alongside centres such as Guwahati, Ranchi, Jaipur and Jodhpur. Service support uses the wider BMW Group India aftersales network, covering 51 touchpoints in 36 cities, according to the company.

The edition takes its name from Oxford, where the classic Mini was first built in 1959 and modern MINI production began under BMW Group in 2001. The India brochure marks 25 years of that modern production history. This explains the British-flag design theme without changing the car's confirmed identity as a Cooper S-based edition.

Dalimss News has also covered BMW's limited-edition India pre-orders and the Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition's booking announcement. For the Oxford Edition, the outstanding information in MINI's dated announcement is the size of India's allocation and the timetable for handing over cars. The official specification sheet cautions that pictured equipment and vehicle configurations can differ from cars supplied in India. Its equipment table provides the reference for the India version, rather than a gallery photograph alone.
