NEW DELHI: The Keeway SR 125 starts lower at Rs 1,29,000 ex-showroom, while the SR 250 is listed at Rs 1,59,000 on Keeway's India website. Both use retro styling, spoke wheels and a five-speed gearbox. The larger motorcycle's model name should not be read as its engine capacity: Keeway specifies 223 cc.

The same seat height hides a different engine brief

The shared saddle height is an unusually useful comparison point. Moving to the SR 250 does not, on these published measurements, mean moving to a taller seat. That makes this a different decision from a conventional step up to an adventure motorcycle, where the engine and riding position may change together.

Keeway specifies the SR 125's single-cylinder engine at 9.7 HP at 9,000 rpm and 8.2 Nm at 7,500 rpm on its India page. The SR 250 technical table lists 16 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The torque figures establish a difference in the published engine specification; they do not constitute an acceleration test or a promise about overtaking with a passenger.

The SR 125's international technical page also identifies fuel injection, air cooling, a wet multi-plate clutch and chain transmission. Those details help explain its conventional mechanical layout. The India page positions it around a simple, retro riding experience, while the SR 250 is presented as a larger-capacity interpretation for daily use.

Braking is a substantive distinction

The India SR 125 specification names a Combo Braking System. The SR 250 sheet names dual-channel ABS. A disc brake at each end does not erase that distinction: the control system listed alongside the brakes is part of the specification too. Describing both motorcycles simply as having disc brakes would leave out a material difference.

Our Keeway K300 SF price: Rs 1,57,000 ex-showroom provides another example of why the disc and electronic-system descriptions belong together. Neither a shared retro appearance nor a similar wheel layout establishes identical braking equipment.

Shared dimensions deserve careful reading

Both India pages give a 14.5-litre tank and 160 mm minimum ground clearance. They also list the same tyre sizes: 110/70-17 at the front and 130/70-17 at the rear. For someone comparing the motorcycles as everyday machines, these common measurements help isolate the engine and braking differences from the visual similarities.

A tank volume is not a verified riding range. Without comparable official consumption results for the Indian versions, multiplying it by an assumed mileage figure would produce an estimate with no sound basis here. Likewise, matching tyre sizes do not prove matching tyre construction, grip or behaviour. The Aprilia RS 457 brakes: 320 mm front disc and selectable ABS keeps those model-specific distinctions in view.

What the pages cannot settle

The SR 250 page contains inconsistent summary and technical-table descriptions of power and cooling. Those disputed details are excluded here. Its weight entry is also labelled dry, so it should not be casually set against another motorcycle's differently defined weight to claim a precise handling advantage.

The listed Glossy White, Glossy Red and Glossy Black finishes reinforce their shared styling approach. That leaves a clear comparison without forcing a winner: the SR 125 has the lower listed price, and the SR 250 brings the larger engine and the separately identified ABS system while retaining the published seat height. Our Benelli TRK 502X tyre sizes: 110/80 R19 front, 150/70 R17 rear illustrates a very different motorcycle brief. For these Keeways, engine capacity, braking equipment and physical fit are the meaningful points to keep together when reading the price.
