Kashi Dwar Facility Eases Darshan for Local Residents at Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple

Kashi residents can now enjoy smoother and more convenient access to the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple through the dedicated Kashi Dwar entry point.

South Varanasi MLA Neelkanth Tiwari recently took advantage of the facility, entering the temple premises simply by showing his Aadhaar card and offering prayers to Baba Shri Kashi Vishwanath.

The Kashi Dwar (Gate 4B), located on Nandu Faria Gali near Chhata Gate, serves as a special entrance reserved for local Varanasi residents and regular worshippers (Nemi). Devotees carrying valid identity proof with a Varanasi address — such as an Aadhaar card or voter ID — can use this gate for quicker access and a hassle-free darshan experience.

According to recent updates shared locally, entry through Kashi Dwar is available from 4:15 AM to 10:45 PM based on local ID verification. This arrangement helps manage crowds efficiently while giving priority to Kashiwaasis, especially during peak hours and festivals.

The facility forms part of ongoing efforts by the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust (led by CEO Vishwabhushan Mishra) to improve devotee convenience, security, and crowd flow at the sacred Jyotirlinga shrine. It aligns with the broader vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for better pilgrim facilities in Kashi.

Local devotees are advised to carry their original ID proof showing a Varanasi address when using the Kashi Dwar entry. The system has been operational since mid-2024 (with pilot phases and refinements), complementing other measures like early-morning slots for locals and app-based services for other darshan categories.

This initiative continues to make the spiritual experience at one of Hinduism’s holiest sites more accessible for the people of Kashi.
