Two Crashes Kill Brick-Kiln Worker and Student; Both Fathers Hurt, Drivers Flee

Two separate road crashes in Varanasi district killed a 22-year-old brick-kiln worker on Monday night and a 21-year-old student on Tuesday noon, police said, and left both of their fathers injured. In each case the driver of the heavier vehicle fled, according to the station house officers who opened the files.

The first crash was around 10 pm on Monday, 25 August 2026, on the Azamgarh–Varanasi road near Bhohar village, by Pink Hospital, under Cholapur police station. A speeding truck hit a brick-laden tractor-trolley, Cholapur police said. Anil Banvasi, 22, died on the spot. His father, Paras Banvasi, 44, was injured. Both men were brick-kiln labourers from Behada in Kerakat, Jaunpur district, working at Brahmanpur, Chandwak.

The truck driver fled, Cholapur police said. SHO Sadhuvan Ram Gautam said an FIR was registered on the father’s complaint. Paras Banvasi was under treatment at a private hospital. Anil had been married a year and left a daughter one month old.

The second crash was at noon on Tuesday, 26 August, on Balua road near the Sungulpur underpass. A dumper hit a motorcycle from behind, Shivpur police said. Zoya Khan, 21, of Chuppepur, under Shivpur police station, died on the spot. Her father, Imam Jama Khan, 45, was taking her to an examination when the dumper struck. He was injured.

The dumper driver fled, Shivpur police said. Inspector Anil Kumar Sharma, SHO Shivpur, said the hunt would run through CCTV. Locals described the underpass as accident-prone and recalled that Lucky Chaubey had died nearby a year earlier. That local memory is recorded as such; it is not a police finding that the Tuesday crash shares a cause with the earlier death.

Cholapur has the Bhohar truck-and-tractor-trolley case on Paras Banvasi’s complaint, with SHO Gautam on the record for the FIR and the private-hospital treatment of the father. Shivpur has the Sungulpur dumper-and-motorcycle case, with Inspector Sharma on the record for the CCTV hunt.

Monday’s tractor-trolley was loaded with bricks. A truck closing at speed on a laden trolley on the Azamgarh–Varanasi road leaves little room for the labourers on the machine. Anil Banvasi was 22, a year into marriage, a month into fatherhood, and dead at the spot near Pink Hospital. His father’s survival to file the complaint is why Cholapur has a first-information account from the family rather than only a police inquest.

Tuesday’s motorcycle was a father taking his daughter to an exam. A dumper from behind on Balua road near the Sungulpur underpass ended that ride. Zoya Khan was 21, of Chuppepur. Imam Jama Khan, 45, was injured and her examination was never reached.

Police have not named either fleeing driver, produced either vehicle’s owner for the public record, or issued a mechanical finding on speed beyond the Cholapur description of a speeding truck. What they have put on paper is identity of the dead, identity of the injured fathers, place, time, vehicle types, and the statement that both drivers fled. Neither driver had been produced at the stations in those briefings.
