Kashi Vishwanath to Give Six-Hour Swing Darshan on Raksha Bandhan

The panchbadan walking silver murti of Baba Vishwanath is due for traditional hariyali shringar at the mahant residence in Tedhi Neem this evening, Thursday 27 August 2026. Festival day is tomorrow, 28 August — Shravan Purnima and Raksha Bandhan — when the same murti is scheduled to sit with the family on a swing inside Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple for about six hours.

Coordinator Vachaspati Tiwari has set the Friday sequence in public. On Purnima the walking murti receives royal shringar at the mahant residence. In the evening it is taken, with traditional instruments and damru, from the Natkot stretch to the temple. Devotees along the route get darshan before the image is installed in the garbhagriha for jhulanotsav.

Kashi Vishwanath Temple SDM Shambhusharan has placed that swing rite before Saptarishi aarti. Darshan then runs until shayan aarti. After shayan aarti the murti returns to the mahant residence.

Tonight’s work at Tedhi Neem is the first public beat of that calendar: hariyali shringar and puja at the mahant house, and cleaning of the swing that will be used on Friday. The green eve dressing is not the royal Purnima shringar Tiwari has reserved for tomorrow. It is the traditional night-before at the house where the walking silver image is kept between processions.

The Natkot-to-temple leg is the street-facing part of Friday. Traditional instruments and damru mark the walking silver murti as it leaves Tedhi Neem. No separate crowd estimate was issued with this briefing. What was issued is the route logic: mahant residence, Natkot instruments, garbhagriha installation, six-hour swing, return after shayan aarti.
