NEW DELHI: Jimny owners should check the retail date before preparing a standard-warranty claim. NEXA's official policy gives vehicles retailed on or after 9 July 2024 cover for 3 years or 1,00,000 km, whichever comes first. Earlier retail purchases fall under the stated 2-year or 40,000 km standard term, rather than automatically receiving the newer limit.

Establish the vehicle's own timeline

Retrieve the retail invoice, owner booklet and latest odometer reading. These should be the starting point for a workshop discussion, rather than the model year printed in an advertisement. If additional cover was purchased, put its certificate alongside the standard-warranty documents so the service adviser can identify the relevant contract.

The practical distinction is between the date of the policy change and the date of your own purchase. Do not assume that every Jimny on the road has the same remaining term. Equally, do not decide that a repair must be chargeable simply because another owner's standard cover has ended.

Write a short account of the symptom and when it occurs. Include any warning message and earlier job-card references. Ask for an inspection under the applicable warranty, rather than requesting a specific replacement before the fault has been diagnosed. These are preparation suggestions, not a separate claim form or an approval promise from Maruti Suzuki.

Keep the off-road description precise

Jimny's official model page identifies ALLGRIP PRO, a ladder-frame chassis and rigid axles, together with its K15B petrol engine. That makes the account of a drivetrain concern especially important. Tell the workshop whether the symptom occurred on a paved journey or during a particular off-road manoeuvre, and identify the transfer-lever setting if you know it.

A noise, vibration or warning should be described in the circumstances in which it actually appeared. Avoid demonstrating it repeatedly merely to collect evidence. If the same behaviour has already been inspected, take the earlier written assessment so the workshop can compare the new observation with its previous findings.

The model's off-road positioning does not decide warranty eligibility. NEXA's policy distinguishes manufacturing defects from damage caused by misuse, accidents or unauthorised modifications, and excludes ordinary wear items. Ask the workshop to explain the identified cause and relevant clause instead of relying on a general claim that an off-road vehicle should withstand anything.

Separate inspection from chargeable work

Before authorising repairs, ask which component is affected, whether the proposed work is being considered under warranty and whether any diagnostic or repair amount requires separate approval. Request an estimate for chargeable work. This gives the owner a clear decision to make without implying that every inspection or repair must be free.

If the workshop declines cover, ask for the reason to be recorded against the job card and linked to the identified component. Keep that explanation with the service history. A clear written finding helps distinguish a disagreement over diagnosis from a disagreement over which warranty document applies.

NEXA's service page offers a service-booking route and a workshop locator. An appointment is the route to an assessment, rather than evidence that a claim has been approved. Have the vehicle details and concise symptom note ready when arranging the visit, and retain the completed job card after the inspection.

The public warranty FAQ also directs owners to their manual for fuller detail and leaves final warranty decisions with Maruti Suzuki. It does not set a universal repair-completion deadline for a Jimny. Ask the workshop for the expected assessment and parts timeline for your vehicle rather than treating another owner's experience as a commitment.
