NEW DELHI: JBL's Go 4 is listed at Rs 3,499 on the brand's India store, while the Clip 5 is Rs 4,499. The Rs 1,000 gap buys a different carrying design, a higher rated output and longer advertised playback. Both figures are the displayed tax-inclusive prices for the Blue versions opened for this comparison.

A clip changes how a small speaker travels
The Clip 5 has an integrated carabiner with a widened opening. The Go 4 uses a carrying loop. That is a more useful distinction than treating them as identical small speakers separated only by price: one can attach directly to a suitable bag loop, while the other has a different carrying arrangement.
Consider a weekend trip where the speaker moves between a backpack and a table at the destination. The Clip design addresses the first part of that journey, but its attachment does not itself establish better sound once it is on the table. The Go design has a different appeal when the speaker spends most of its time packed away between stops.
Read the battery claims on the same basis
JBL separates ordinary playback from Playtime Boost in its feature descriptions and specification sheets. The Go 4 claim is up to 7 hours, with up to 2 additional hours using Boost. The Clip 5 claim is up to 12 hours, with up to 3 additional hours using Boost. Volume and audio content affect those figures.
There is a small trap on the Clip 5 page: its specifications also show a maximum music-playing figure of 15 hours. The detailed sheet explains the distinction by separating standard playback and the extra Boost claim. Comparing that maximum directly with the Go 4's ordinary figure would blur the operating conditions.
For a shared playlist during a long outing, the relevant question is which mode is being discussed and how the speaker is used. Neither published duration is a field test of a particular playlist at a particular volume. Planning a charging stop around the full advertised maximum leaves no allowance for a different listening pattern.
More output is not a listening verdict
The official sheets rate the Go 4 at 4.2W RMS and the Clip 5 at 7W RMS. Both list Bluetooth 5.3 and an approximately 3-hour recharge under the specified charging conditions. The Clip is also heavier, as the table shows. Those specifications describe the hardware without proving a proportional increase in perceived loudness or bass.
Both support the JBL Portable app for equaliser adjustments and updates. Both also support Auracast connections with compatible JBL speakers. JBL describes a stereo pair using matching Go 4 units or matching Clip 5 units; a broader multi-speaker connection is a separate use case. An existing speaker's Bluetooth connection alone does not confirm that it belongs to that compatible group.
Where these models sit in our coverage
The common IP67 rating means that a higher sticker price here does not purchase a higher published protection class. The comparison turns instead on carrying, playback and output. These details explain the models' different roles without assigning an untested winner for a hostel room, family picnic or travel bag.
