GURUGRAM: The district administration on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, set out the income bands, annual contributions and exclusions for an expanded Chirayu health cover arrangement that takes effect on Sunday, November 1. Eligible families with verified annual income above Rs 3 lakh will be able to obtain up to Rs 5 lakh in cashless hospital treatment per family per year by paying the prescribed contribution.
For a household in Sector 57, Wazirabad or elsewhere in Gurugram, eligibility will be checked against the Parivar Pehchan Patra database. Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh's announcement specifies Rs 4,000 a year for families earning above Rs 3 lakh and up to Rs 6 lakh, and Rs 5,000 a year for those earning above Rs 6 lakh, subject to the exclusions.
Which contribution applies to a family
The official district release, published at 4.25 pm IST on October 28, says the expanded arrangement begins on Haryana Day, November 1, 2026. It also records the existing Rs 1,500 annual contribution band for eligible families with verified income above Rs 1.80 lakh and up to Rs 3 lakh.
| Verified annual family income | Annual contribution stated |
|---|---|
| Above Rs 1.80 lakh and up to Rs 3 lakh | Rs 1,500 under the existing band |
| Above Rs 3 lakh and up to Rs 6 lakh | Rs 4,000 under the expanded arrangement |
| Above Rs 6 lakh | Rs 5,000 under the expanded arrangement |
The Rs 5 lakh treatment limit is for a family over a year. It should not be read as a separate Rs 5 lakh entitlement for each member. The annual contribution and the treatment ceiling are different figures: paying a contribution is the stated route to the scheme benefit for an eligible family, rather than a cash payment of Rs 5 lakh to that family.
The administration gives the annual policy period as November 1 to October 31 of the following year and says each card is valid for one year. It does not specify a clock time for the November 1 change, so there is no confirmed hour of activation to report.
Hospital treatment and package conditions
According to the release, Chirayu operates in line with Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana provisions. It lists 2,694 treatment packages covering surgery, medical treatment and day care procedures. Necessary medicines and investigations are included within the prescribed packages.
The announcement says there is no limit on the number of eligible family members or their ages, and pre-existing illnesses are covered. For eligible treatment, it also includes investigations up to three days before hospital admission and prescribed medical expenses up to 15 days after discharge. Those periods sit within the stated treatment conditions, rather than providing an unrestricted allowance for every expense incurred around a hospital visit.
Cashless treatment is available at empanelled government and private hospitals. The administration also describes national portability, allowing beneficiaries to use empanelled hospitals elsewhere in the country. It does not say that every private hospital accepts the scheme or that every procedure at a participating hospital is covered.
Who is excluded from the expansion
The release excludes people receiving benefits under specified government medical arrangements, including the Central Government Health Scheme, the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme and railway health services, in accordance with the rules. Families should check this before assuming that their income band alone makes them eligible.
Haryana government employees, retired employees and their dependants who are entitled to government medical reimbursement or cashless treatment are also excluded. The release extends that exclusion to employees, pensioners and dependants of other state governments and Union Territories who receive medical benefits from their respective governments.
For beneficiaries aged 70 or above, the district statement points to coverage under Ayushman Vay Vandana according to central government provisions. It does not set out the complete enrolment rules for that separate route, so residents should check the applicable arrangement rather than assuming that the new contribution table resolves every senior citizen's case.
Payment and card arrangements
The administration directs eligible families to the official Chirayu portal for online payment of the annual contribution. Cards will be made through government hospitals, Common Service Centres, village level centre operators and ASHA workers. At admission, beneficiaries are to provide their Ayushman Bharat golden card number or PPP ID.
The release gives no separate last date for making the annual contribution. Families can first check the income recorded in PPP, whether an exclusion applies, and the hospital's empanelment before arranging treatment. For other local service developments, see the work order for 30 health centres, district TB outreach arrangements and assistive device distribution report. Those services have separate purposes and eligibility conditions.
