CBSE opens Veer Gatha 6.0 with MyGov uploads from 5 to 19 October

Project Veer Gatha 6.0 is open for the 2026-27 cycle. CBSE Academic Circular Acad-58/2026, dated 14 September 2026, says the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Education will run the sixth edition so that students study gallantry awardees and related military history through school projects.

Veer Gatha began in 2021. Students create art, poems, essays and multimedia work on gallantry award winners, and the best projects are recognised at national level by the two ministries. Edition 6.0 keeps that structure and adds a clear school-to-MyGov pipeline for 2026.

Categories, formats and suggestive topics

Preparatory Stage (Grades 3 to 5) may submit a poem, a paragraph of about 150 words, a painting or a drawing. Middle Stage (Grades 6 to 8) may add a multimedia presentation or a short video in anchoring, storytelling or war-reporting formats, with paragraphs up to about 300 words. Secondary Stage (Grades 9 to 12) may submit a poem, an essay of about 750 words, painting, drawing, multimedia or short video.

Suggestive topics include writing about a gallantry award winner as a role model and the values drawn from that life, describing how a student would keep the memory of a supreme sacrifice alive, or writing on the spirit and strategies of warriors such as Prithviraj Chauhan, King Kharavela of Kalinga, Shivaji, or figures from 1857 and tribal uprisings.

School deadline 4 October and MyGov window 5 to 19 October

Until 4 October 2026, schools should organise virtual or face-to-face interactions with gallantry award winners where MoD schedules them, and must complete school-level activities and evaluation. From 5 October to 19 October 2026, each school uploads one best entry per category on the MyGov portal, for a total of four entries per school as explained in the circular, including the special break-ups for schools whose highest grade is 5, 8 or 10.

National winners are the Super 100: 25 from Grades 3 to 5, 25 from Grades 6 to 8, and 50 from Grades 9 to 12 (25 from Grades 9 to 10 and 25 from Grades 11 to 12). Earlier national Veer Gatha winners are not to be included again in the Super 100 for edition 6.0. State or UT and district winner numbers are also listed in Acad-58.

Ministry of Defence will organise virtual or face-to-face awareness sessions for schools. Venue and timing lists will be shared separately, so schools should watch later MoD or CBSE updates for those interaction slots while they start classroom projects on the suggestive topics.

Category-3 secondary entries are split when schools upload: one best entry for Grades 9 to 10 and one best entry for Grades 11 to 12, which is why a full secondary school still lands at four MyGov uploads when preparatory and middle entries are included. Schools that stop at Grade 5, 8 or 10 must follow the special four-entry break-ups printed in Acad-58 rather than inventing their own split.

State or UT level winners number eight (two from each category structure described in the circular) and must not overlap with Super 100 students. District level winners number four under the category split given in Acad-58. Schools should therefore treat national, state and district tracks as separate result layers after MyGov evaluation.

Schools should not wait for the last upload day. Once school evaluation finishes and the best entry in each category is ready, the circular says the school should upload on MyGov.
