NEW DELHI: BYD's India ATTO 3 brochure quotes 50 minutes for DC charging from 0% to 80%. It lists eight hours of AC charging for Dynamic and 9.5 to 10 hours for Premium and Superior. The DC figure describes a defined battery window under standard conditions, not the time for every charging stop or a promise of a full battery.
| ATTO 3 version | Battery | Quoted AC time | Quoted DC time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dynamic | 49.92 kWh | 8 hours | 50 minutes, 0% to 80% |
| Premium | 60.48 kWh | 9.5 to 10 hours | 50 minutes, 0% to 80% |
| Superior | 60.48 kWh | 9.5 to 10 hours | 50 minutes, 0% to 80% |
Why the battery window belongs beside the time
A charging claim is meaningful only when its starting and ending charge levels remain attached. The ATTO 3's quoted DC time ends before the battery is full. It therefore cannot be used to promise the same duration for a charge that continues to full, or to estimate a shorter stop by simply scaling the minutes in direct proportion.
BYD says charger specifications, electricity load and outdoor temperature can affect charging time. That makes the published figure a reference for planning rather than a timetable. When checking a route, leave space for the charging process as well as locating the charger, connecting the vehicle and any wait before the session starts.
Dynamic and the larger-battery versions
The brochure's variant table is more useful than an isolated headline because it separates the battery capacities and AC durations. Dynamic has a smaller battery than Premium and Superior. The latter pair share the listed capacity and AC time, so moving between those versions should not be explained as buying a larger battery on the evidence of this table.
For the financial side of that distinction, see the desk's ATTO 3 variant price guide. This charging explainer does not recalculate those prices or present a new price list. Its question is how the official charging conditions should be read when comparing the versions.
A household with a predictable overnight parking period can use the published AC durations to frame an installation discussion. Ask which charger and electrical arrangement the estimate assumes, and whether your parking location can support the intended installation. Do not treat the availability of a parking bay as proof that an electrical supply is already suitable.
Read the connector information with care
The brochure identifies Type 2 for AC charging and CCS 2 for DC charging. Its charging disclaimer describes a 7 kW AC condition and an 80 kW DC condition. Those statements explain the published context; they do not establish that a particular public charger will continuously deliver its advertised output to the vehicle.
Before a longer trip, check the connector and operational details of the intended charging stops. Keep an alternative in the route plan instead of depending entirely on a photograph of a charger or a map pin. The official brochure cannot verify the live availability, access arrangements or working condition of an individual charging location.
Who it is for
This guide is for an ATTO 3 household deciding whether its normal parking routine allows enough time to replenish the car. Start with where it will spend the night, who controls that space and when it next needs to leave. Those practical answers should come before treating the fastest brochure figure as the basis for everyday use.
For occasional highway journeys, the key distinction is between time connected and time set aside for the stop. A meal break may overlap with charging, but that does not remove the need to check the route and the session itself. Keep expectations tied to the actual charge levels rather than a general claim that the car charges in a fixed number of minutes.
The desk's BYD SEAL charging-window explainer demonstrates why different percentage windows need to stay visible. Its charging time should not be transferred to the ATTO 3. The ATTO 3 and MG ZS EV price comparison addresses another decision, the purchase-price starting point.
