To check your Aadhaar update status, start from UIDAI's website and select its status service, using the reference on your acknowledgement receipt. UIDAI says an update can take up to 90 days from the request date. If it remains pending beyond that period, the authority directs residents to its toll free number, 1947, or its official support email for assistance. A pending correction is not evidence that you must submit a fresh application immediately.

This guide was checked against the live UIDAI pages on 2 November 2026. Aadhaar is an identity system administered by a statutory authority. Tracking a correction does not itself create eligibility for a pension, scholarship or other payment. There is no cash benefit amount attached to a status enquiry; the relevant scheme authority decides its own eligibility and document requirements.

How to check Aadhaar update status online

Open the official UIDAI home page and follow Check Update Status. Starting there matters because UIDAI's current home page links to a refreshed myAadhaar service, while some older instructions still show the earlier portal address. Use the service linked by the authority rather than assuming an old bookmark remains the correct route.

Keep the acknowledgement from the update centre or online request beside you. Enter the reference and any verification details the live status form asks for. Do not substitute a different number because a search result mentions it. This article does not reproduce a fixed screen sequence: the portal is interactive and its fields may change, whereas your own acknowledgement identifies the request you actually made.

Read the result as a statement about that request. Keep a copy of the acknowledgement and note when you checked. A submission receipt establishes that an application was lodged; it does not establish that the requested spelling, address or other detail has passed verification and become part of your Aadhaar record.

What do URN and EID mean on an update receipt?

UIDAI's Updating Data on Aadhaar page describes different assisted update arrangements. Under its standard update process, the acknowledgement carries an Update Request Number, or URN, which can be tracked. The page also describes a receipt carrying an Enrolment ID, or EID, under its Update Client Lite process. Check the label on your own receipt before entering its number.

The same official page explains why changes may be needed: a move, a name change after a life event, or an error in the original record. It distinguishes demographic information from biometric information such as fingerprints, iris data and the facial photograph. A request concerning one kind of information should not be treated as proof that every other detail has also been updated.

What if Aadhaar update status stays in process?

The Your Aadhaar FAQ says the update process can take up to 90 days and cannot be altered to expedite an urgent request. Treat this as the authority's stated processing window, not a promise that every application will be approved. An employer's or institution's separate deadline does not shorten UIDAI's checks.

If more than 90 days have passed, call 1947 or use help@uidai.gov.in, the contact specified in that FAQ. Keep the request reference, submission date and the status message available so the enquiry can be tied to the right application. UIDAI's CRM Division page also describes grievance and support channels. Raising a grievance seeks assistance; it does not guarantee an approval date.

Which documents matter for a fresh correction?

For an online address update, UIDAI says the resident needs an Aadhaar registered contact number for OTP authentication and must upload supporting proof of address. At an enrolment centre, the operator collects the relevant documentary evidence and a verifier checks it. Use UIDAI's accepted-document list for the particular field rather than assuming any identity document proves an address or relationship.

There is no universal fresh deadline created simply by checking status on 2 November. If you need a new correction, confirm the current procedure and applicable charge on UIDAI's portal first.
