Where to Find Medicines at Night in Varanasi: 24x7 Pharmacies

VARANASI: At two in the morning, a closed chemist’s shutter is more than an inconvenience. It can mean another drive across the city while a child has a fever or an elderly patient waits for a prescribed dose.

After Dalimss News posted a six-store list on Instagram, the newsroom widened the search. We found 11 pharmacies and hospital medicine counters in Varanasi that describe themselves online as open round the clock.

There is one important catch: “open 24 hours” does not mean every medicine will be in stock. A hospital counter may also give priority to its own patients. Save two or three nearby numbers, carry the prescription and call before leaving home.

24x7 pharmacies in Varanasi

1. Infinity Care Hospital Pharmacy, Orderly Bazar
   The hospital says its in-campus pharmacy runs 24x7. The correct address is S2/1-92-93, Panchkoshi Road, Orderly Bazar, Varanasi 221002. Phone: 83037 10006 or 83037 10017. An earlier Dalimss News graphic placed it in Mahmoorganj; the hospital’s own address is in Orderly Bazar.

2. New Rekha Medical and General Store, Lanka
   This long-running shop is opposite the BHU Gate in Saket Nagar Colony, on BHU-Lanka Road. Current business listings show it as open 24 hours. Phone: 94519 20988.

3. Disha Pharmacy, Bhogabir-Lanka
   The store is near Parul Pathology Clinic at B31/83A, B31/40/K5, Saket Nagar Colony. Its current claimed listing shows round-the-clock opening on all seven days. The number used in the Dalimss News social post was 73173 11988.

4. Zara Medical 24x7, Jaitpura
   Zara Medical is listed at J23/9, Kamal Pura, Alaipura, Jaitpura, Varanasi 221002. Phone: 86874 15583. Its name and current listings both describe it as a 24x7 store.

5. Umang Pharmacy, Sir Sunderlal Hospital-BHU
   Umang Pharmacy is in the OPD area near Hanuman Mandir, inside the Sir Sunderlal Hospital campus at Lanka. Public listings show 24-hour service and prescription acceptance. Phone: 81308 53473 or 0542-2366487.

6. Rohit Medical Stores, Sundarpur-Nagwa
   This shop is listed on BHU Road near the ICICI ATM in Brij Enclave Colony. Its current listing says it remains open 24 hours. Phone: 0542-2310110.

7. Gupta Medical Agency, Lahartara
   Located opposite Lahartara Crossing on Lahartara Road, the agency’s claimed business listing shows 24-hour opening throughout the week. The listing also mentions home delivery, but customers should check the delivery radius and stock before ordering.

8. Varanasi Hospital Pharmacy, Bhelupura
   The hospital lists a 24-hour pharmacy at B-50, Jawahar Nagar Extension, Gurudham Colony, Bhelupura, Varanasi 221010. Phone: 99842 22250 or 99842 22260.

9. Popular Hospital Pharmacy, Kakarmatta
   Popular Hospital says its in-house pharmacy is available 24x7 for medicines and surgical supplies. Address: N-10/60, A-2, BLW Road, Kakarmatta, Varanasi 221004. Phone: 78000 01895 or 78000 01896.

10. Gangoshri Hospital Pharmacy Desk, Gurudham-Manduadih
    Gangoshri lists a 24x7 pharmacy desk. The hospital has branches in Lane 4, Gurudham Colony, Bhelupur, and at 7/1 Modhaila Road near Manduadih Thana. Call 75185 55544 and ask which branch has overnight public access.

11. Ganga Sewa Sadan Hospital Pharmacy, Chandpur
    The hospital lists a 24x7 pharmacy at its Industrial Estate Road campus in Chandpur, Varanasi 221106. Phone: 99352 08814.

Before setting out

• Ask for the exact medicine, strength and quantity; a store can be open while the required drug is out of stock.

• Keep the original prescription with you for medicines that cannot legally be sold over the counter.

• Check whether an in-hospital pharmacy accepts walk-in customers who are not registered patients.

• For delivery, confirm the charge, service area and realistic arrival time.

• If the patient has breathing difficulty, severe chest pain, heavy bleeding, loss of consciousness or another serious symptom, go to the nearest emergency department instead of spending time looking for a retail shop.
