Varanasi Sanitation Hit as 500 Workers Strike Over Unpaid Wages

Sanitation services in Varanasi have been severely disrupted after around 500 employees of West Solution Private Limited went on strike over non-payment of salaries for the past two months.
The strike has brought waste collection operations to a halt, especially in the Adampur and Jaitpura zones. More than 50 garbage collection vehicles remained off the roads, leading to the accumulation of waste in several localities and causing inconvenience to residents.
Employees claim the company had assured timely salary payments by the 7th of every month, a promise even displayed through posters at depots. However, repeated delays have triggered anger among workers.
Amid the ongoing strike, the situation at the site turned tense with reports of heavy commotion. Meanwhile, the company’s Project Head, Anuj Bhati, has maintained complete silence over the issue. When questioned by the media regarding the reasons behind the strike and the employees’ demands, he failed to provide any clear response.
This silence from the company’s side has raised further questions, deepening the mystery surrounding the entire matter. Speculation is growing over whether the administration and company management are withholding key details.
The striking employees have made it clear that waste collection will not resume until all pending salary dues are cleared. All eyes are now on authorities and the company management to see how quickly the issue is resolved and sanitation services are restored.
