Around 1.60 Lakh Candidates to Appear Across 68 Centres in Varanasi

VARANASI — The Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) commenced on Thursday across Varanasi, marking the return of the state-level examination after a gap of four years. The crucial eligibility test is being conducted over a three-day schedule to accommodate a massive turnout of aspiring educators.

According to official administration data, approximately 1.60 lakh candidates are slated to appear for the examination in Varanasi alone. To manage this massive influx seamlessly, authorities have set up 68 designated examination centres throughout the district.

Triple-Layer Monitoring and Tight Security

In a bid to maintain the absolute sanctity of the examination and eliminate any possibility of malpractice, the state administration has enforced an unprecedented, multi-tiered security apparatus:

  • High-Level Supervision: A strict "triple-layer" monitoring framework has been put into action. To ensure maximum transparency, the ground security and invigilation teams are being directly overseen by a specially deployed panel of retired IAS and IPS officers.

  • Prohibited Items: Candidates are facing rigorous frisking at entry gates. Mobile phones, smartwatches, bluetooth devices, and all other forms of electronic gadgets are strictly banned inside the examination halls.

  • Stationery Protocols: Applicants are permitted to bring only basic black ballpoint pens inside the halls to fill out their answers.
