MUMBAI: Skoda Auto India's new Slavia is open for pre-bookings at Rs 15,000, with an eight-speed torque-converter automatic on the 1.0 TSI, a rear-seat massage function on higher trims, a 360-degree Area View camera and a Google Cloud-powered AI voice assistant among the headline changes. The details are in Skoda's official unveil note and on the live Slavia product page.
India prices for the updated sedan have not been published on those pages yet. Until the company prints an ex-showroom list, the Rs 15,000 is only a booking amount and not a guide to the final invoice.
Powertrains and equipment
The 1.0 TSI can be paired with a six-speed manual or the new eight-speed automatic, which Skoda calls a segment first for this sedan class in India. The 1.5 TSI continues with the seven-speed DSG, and those variants now get rear disc brakes. Classic, Classic+, Signature, Sportline, Prestige and Monte Carlo trims are listed from the start of sales.
Exterior changes include new LED headlamps and tail-lamps with sequential rear indicators, a chrome strip on the grille and fresh alloy designs. Two new colours, Arctic Silver and Cappuccino Beige, join the existing palette. Inside, Skoda lists a 10.25-inch digital cockpit, a 10.1-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and the AI Companion that is built to recognise Indian English accents.
Six airbags and a wider active-safety list remain standard, and the company continues to cite the model's five-star Global NCAP adult and child ratings from the previous programme. Park Pilot with front sensors and the 360-degree camera are aimed at urban parking.
Ownership package
Skoda Super Care on the new Slavia includes a standard four-year or 1,00,000 km warranty, four years of roadside assistance and four labour-free services for up to two years or 30,000 km. Extended warranty to six years is offered as an option, alongside separate corrosion and paint cover terms.
Piyush Arora, Managing Director and CEO of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, said the update keeps the focus on products "engineered and manufactured to meet the evolving needs of Indian customers." Martin Jahn, Skoda Auto Board Member for Sales and Marketing, noted nearly 80,000 Slavias sold to date in his quoted remarks.
What buyers should ask now
Because the ex-showroom list is still awaited, anyone paying Rs 15,000 should get the refund rules, the expected price-announcement window and the likely delivery month in writing. The unveil note also flags provisional performance data pending homologation, so final brochure figures may differ slightly from early marketing copy.
For sedan shoppers comparing the Slavia with other mid-size options this festive season, the differentiators Skoda is stressing are the eight-speed automatic, rear-seat massage, 360-degree camera and the AI voice stack, not a published price cut.
Ashish Gupta, Brand Director for Skoda Auto India, said the new Slavia carries forward the brand's sedan legacy with contemporary styling and technology while keeping European engineering accessible. Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Skoda Auto, called India one of the brand's most important growth markets in remarks quoted in the same unveil note.
Pre-booking a facelifted sedan without a price list is common in India when brands want order banks before a festive reveal. The risk sits with the customer if the eventual ex-showroom jumps beyond budget, which is why refund language on the Rs 15,000 must be written down.
Test-drive the current Slavia if a new demo is not yet in the yard, then ask the dealer to map which comfort features in the unveil note are trim-linked. Rear-seat massage and 360-degree camera are unlikely to sit on the base Classic in the final brochure.
Dalimss is also tracking other October showroom pipelines, including Honda Elevate pre-launch bookings and Porsche Cayenne Electric India launch.
