NEW DELHI: Samsung's Galaxy Tab S12+ starts at Rs 1,29,999 in India, with the company announcing availability from 7 October. The Plus model combines a 12.6-inch AMOLED display with an included S Pen. Its launch puts the emphasis on a large writing and working surface without moving to the Ultra's still larger format.

A large tablet with a specific working proposition
The display is the main reason the Plus deserves separate attention. Samsung provides a substantial screen for handwritten notes, document review and a lecture window, while retaining a body measuring 5.3mm thick. The Wi-Fi model weighs 553g and the 5G version 555g, before a cover or keyboard is added.
For an Indian student following a recorded class, the useful question is how much of the study session can happen on the tablet itself. Keeping the source material visible while writing avoids repeatedly switching between the lesson and notes. That is a different proposition from buying a screen principally to watch films or read messages.
Samsung's Multi Window layout supports up to three sections. The S Pen comes in the box, so handwriting is part of the basic hardware proposition. A physical keyboard is a separate purchase. Treating pen input and typed work as separate workflows makes the launch easier to assess than describing the tablet simply as a laptop replacement.
Brightness and battery claims need their conditions
The AMOLED screen has a peak brightness specification of 1,600 nits, with 1,000 nits in High Brightness Mode. Peak brightness and sustained outdoor brightness describe different conditions. Someone reading a mostly white document should not interpret the larger figure as a promise about every part of the screen throughout a working day.
Samsung quotes up to 21 hours of battery life for the Plus under its laboratory video playback conditions. That is useful as a defined company claim, but it does not establish how long a combination of online classes, mobile data, drawing and video calls will last. Network use, brightness and applications all change the workload.
The charging specification is up to 45W. Samsung says the compatible power adapter is sold separately. This distinction matters when comparing a tablet's advertised charging capability with the equipment already in a household. A USB-C connector alone does not establish that the available adapter and cable deliver the supported charging setup.
The software bundle is not all permanent access
Android 17 and One UI 9 underpin the launch software. Samsung includes creative and note-taking applications, but the accompanying benefits have different terms. Goodnotes has one year of free access, while Photoshop's mobile plan benefit lasts four months. Buyers need to distinguish an installed application from a continuing paid entitlement.
That affects how a college or freelance worker budgets for the device. Hardware is an upfront expense, while an application subscription may become an ongoing cost after a trial. An attractive list of creative tools does not answer whether a particular course, client file or working process is supported without checking the relevant app.
The Plus has IP68 water and dust resistance. Samsung's test conditions include freshwater immersion at up to 1.5 metres for up to 30 minutes; resistance can diminish with wear. This is a defined protective rating, not a reason to use the tablet in a pool or regard accidental liquid damage as automatically covered.
